I pray for the family to feel God's comfort and protection during this tragic time. I myself am one of the "younger" law enforcement officers and I have wondered from time to time if the day I'm serving would be my last. We should all be prepared to face our Lord should our time here run out.

Rest In Peace, Deputy

The Policeman stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, officer. How shall I deal with You?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To my Church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulders and said,
"No, Lord, I guess I ain't.
Cause those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
But I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep,
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God forgive me, I wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand.
I've never expected or had too much.
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne where the saints had often trod.
As the officer waited quietly for the answer of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's Streets. You've done your time in Hell."

Absolutely devistating. I could not sleeep after I read this story I had to get up andsay something. I came across this website in search of words to honor the men and women that serve us protect us and God rest his soul die for us. My brother is Special Sheriff Patrick G. Murphy and not for a second can I imagine him not returning home to his family. I work for a non profit organization and I nominated him because he's the best man I know . There have been so many suicides within middlesex Sheriff's Department in the past couple of years makes me shutter. I wanted to acknoledge these men. This is not an easy job I wished they had asked for help. I have suffered from major depression my whoIle life and attempted suicide on several occasions. My heart breaks for this family. Sweet Jesus he's younger than my only child. I can only imagin his mothers pain. I wanted to talk about how all officers/sheriff's put themselves in harms way to protect us and sometimes they don't come home. He is being honored on Sept 20 2012 he is the definition of integrity and was devestated when the news of Dipola came out.. I wish someone could come and talk about the loss of your sheriff at this event. I had an overwhelming response. I would have to quote the the Boston Globe that " Sheriff Peter Koutoujain is a breath of fresh air.
