God bless you and your family brother. I truly believe in the cause for which you gave your life. Thank-you for making the ultimate sacrifice. Your family is in my most heart felt thoughts and prayers. I know you are watching over them still as you did here on earth.

For Deputy Sheriff William Mast Jr.:

The duty of the patrol officer answering calls is one of the most dangerous jobs of all those who protect the nation and the public. With regularity, and far too often, a call is answered where a sniveling little creep hides in the shadows to gun down a law officer in ambush simply because the creep is too much of a coward to do anything else. Once again we can, even in our grief, be thankful for Bill that he was accompanied by a partner who acted quickly and lawfully bringing about justice before further loss of precious life occurred. We applaud his actions, even at this terrible time.

We pray for Bill's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another to assist Bill's family in the days ahead.

We are very much proud to render Deputy William Mast, a soldier-of-the-law, a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police

My god...people are ruthless out there. Another good man is laid to rest because of a low life. I am glad he will not be in prison, but the depths of hell where he belongs. RIP fellow brother in blue, you will NOT be forgotten.

Rest well my brother, for your sacrifice was not in vain. As you take the watch in heaven we'll take it down here. May God grant peace and comfort to his family both physical and law enforcement.

My heart is broken for all those who knew Deputy Mast; family, friends, coworkers and the baby he will never know. Thank you so much for your service and your courage in protecting your community. You will not be forgotten.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Rachel

Avenue of the Fallen

Standing at attention in their class “A“ uniforms, badges gleaming and shoes like glass, are your brothers and sisters of Law Enforcement. All of whom have previously paid the ultimate price.
Today, like many others, they welcome you to this wonderful place. As you march down the Avenue of the Fallen, all eyes focus on you as if to say its ok you’re with your eternal partners. A salute is followed and a tear can be seen on so many faces.
Welcome, you served well.
Now come join us in the ranks, another is coming home.

In Honor of your Sacrifice and for your family and friends, I salute you as a HERO! May God
Give the family and friends the strength and faith to deal with this tragic loss. Words can not express my sorrow!

"The Badge"

He starts his shift each day
To respond to calls unknown.
He drives a marked patrol car.
A police officer he is known.

He's paid by the citizens' taxes
To make it safe on the streets.
But he usually has a second job
'Cause a waitress has his salary beat.

Now he doesn't know a holiday
'Cause he works all year round.
And when Thanksgiving and Christmas finally arrive
At his home he cannot be found.

He's cursed and assaulted often,
The one whos blood runs blue.
He seldom ever gets a thanks,
To some he's just a fool.

His friends are always other cops
'Cause people just don't understand
That underneath his badge and gun,
He's just another man.

He knows there might not be a tomorrow
In this world of drugs and crime.
And he gets so mad at the court system
'Cause the crooks don't get any time.

And each day when he leaves for work,
He prays to God above.
Please bring me home after my shift
So I can see the ones I love.

But tonight he stops a speeding car,
He's alone down this ole' highway.
It's just a little traffic infraction.
He does it everyday.

Well, he walks up to the driver's window,
And his badge is shining bright.
He asked the guy for a driver's license,
When a shot rang through the night.

Yes, the bullet hit its mark,
Striking the officer in the chest.
But the Department's budget didn't buy
Each officer a bullet-proof vest.

So he lay on the ground bleeding.
His blood wasn't blue - His blood was red.
And briefly he thought of his loved ones
'Cause in a moment the officer was dead.

In the news they told the story
Of how this officer had died.
And some who listened cared less,
But those who loved him cried.

Well, they buried him in uniform
With his badge pinned on his chest.
He even had his revolver,
He died doing his best.

I still have tears in my eyes, and have since I heard the news early this morning. William Mast was the True friend everyone wants. He was one of the most kind and considerate young men I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. I am proud to say that he and my son were friends and in BLET together. He will be missed by all that knew and loved him, but God took another Angel today and he along with my son Matt, and all of the other Angels in Heaven will be watching over all of us while walking on those streets of gold. "Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God."
