Though I never knew him, he was part of my Law Enforcement family and I will mourn this deep loss the rest of my life. My heart aches with all the losses we have suffered, and continue to suffer, through the years. God is our only peace through such incidents. May family & friends feel the presence of the "God of All Comfort" as they endure the distressing days ahead. I join them in their agonizing grief & remember them in my prayers.

Another senseless tragedy
Another day of grief,
Another day of praying
To help us find relief.

Relief from bitter anguish
Relief from rage so great,
Relief from lenient justice
Which continues to seal our fate.

Relief from heartache’s torment
As we continue on,
Oh, the awesome loss of brotherhood
Now that you are gone.

Though our hearts are deeply broken
And our tears forever flow,
There’s a comforting assurance
That now with God you go.

We know that you are welcome
Now at Heaven’s gate,
While meeting brothers & sisters
Who also met such fate.

The family of Law Enforcement
Knows no distance here or there,
And we recall in comfort
You await us there.

This account just saddens my heart....what a beautiful young woman and what a tragedic end. I pray for your 12 year old daughter. God Bless this angel's soul. We can all take comfort in knowing that officer Hollis will have no more sorrow or pain where she now rests. Life is precious and we need to stop the silliness and petty fights. There were babies in the crowd that day, we need to conduct ourselves as human beings and not animals. RIP Officer Hollis and to her family, I am praying for you and your comfort.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

I am simply a citizen here in Colorado... But hearing about the loss of such a person saddend me... And then I had to attend an event in Denver and seeing all the officers with the black bands across their badges just about did me in.. It took all I had to not walk up to every officer I saw and express my sadness for them.. But I can do it here!! I'm saddened for our community and for those whose truly loved And knew her to experience such a tragic loss.. And while it's true time heals all wounds there are certain things that cannot be replaced and a woman who was dedicated to keeping her community safe and protecting her family or my family is high on the list of one of those irreplaceable things. Rest peacefully knowing that you died doing what anyone in your field was called to do.. Protecting your people and we THANK YOU for that!
