Leave a Reflection

Reflections for Police Officer Celena Charise Hollis

Again, another senseless act resulting in a death of someone trying to protect society and the evil people that live within this society. People are going to the extremes trying to "defend their honor" because they feel like they have been disrespected. They would rather show how "tough" they are instead of just walking away from the situation.

Now because of the actions of this ignorant, self-centered creature a little girl lost her mommy, a department lost a fellow comrade and a community lost a hero!!

May your soul rest in peace! Thank you for your bravery and your unconditional love for your fellow Americans!!

I remember when I first met Celena back in 2005 during the police Academy at DPD. She was in the class with my husband. She hadmoved here to Denver to find a better place to raise her daughter. We talked about some of her options as a single mom. Celena was always upbeat and smiling when I saw her. She was a good friend to my husband in the academy and on the job.

We are praying for her daughter, mom and family

To the family, friends and colleagues of Police Officer Celena Hollis.
My heart is filled with great sadness at the lost of your loved one and fellow officer.

We in the law enforcement community both active and retired, having walked the line of good over evil, knowing that at any moment a call for help may require us to make the ultimate sacrifice for our fellow man.

For Law Enforcement is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.

I commend you my fallen sister for making the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of your duty.
You left us doing what you chose to do.
What you were trained to do.
Performing the oath you swore to do.
Most importantly doing what you loved to do....serving your community making a better and safer place for us all.

Rest in Peace my sister, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

On behalf of the 5,000 members of the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police we want to convey our deepest sympathy to the men and women of the Denver Police Department on the tragic loss of our sister in blue. As police officers we know better than most all others the deep pain that the loss of one of our own carries. Each of you and the family members of the fallen officer are in our thoughts and prayers.

As you remember this fallen officer, take comfort in recalling that she dedicated her life to the same principles of honor, duty and courage that brought us all to the badge. Such a life is truly rich.

Take strength in knowing that when an officer falls, our resolve to serve those in need is not diminished. Our dedication to protecting those in danger is not weakened. Our commitment to remembering those with whom we shared the badge does not fade.

Mike Violette - Executive Director
Colorado State Lodge Fraternal Order of Police
