He was a good Man, a friend to all who had the honor to know Him. I knew Him for eight years. I know a lot of people, but have very few true friends, Mike was my true friend. He was my partner when I served with The Upton County Sheriffs Office. Working 12 hour shifts with a Man you get to know him and He you. He was not The Enforcer type, more the 'I'm here to help type.' He and I shared a love for movies and music. When We worked together I could spit out a line from a film we both liked and He would say the next line from memory and We would just keep it going. I spoke to Him about two weeks prior to His death by instant messenger. He was going to give me a call when he got a chance so We could catch up. I hope that's a conversation we can one day have in Heaven, If I am so blessed. I know He is there, cutting up with the angels and reaping his rewards for the good deeds He did down here on earth. So to Mike I say, "Well, its a mess aint it Sheriff?" and Mike says, "If it aint, itll do till the mess gets here." Mike knows what I am talking about.

Detective Sgt. David L. Wood
Slaton Texas Police Dept. Mike was my FRIEND.
