To the family, friends and colleagues of Deputy Sheriff Mike Smith, my heart is filled with great sadness at the lost of your loved one and fellow deputy sheriff.

We in the law enforcement community both active and retired, having walked the line of good over evil, knowing that at any moment a call for help may require us to make the ultimate sacrifice for our fellow man.

For law enforcement is not a job but a calling and only a few will make the decision to commit to that calling to serve for some will give all that they have.

I commend you my fallen brother for making the ultimate sacrifice in the performance of your duty.
You left us doing what you chose to do.
What you were trained to do.
Performing the oath you sworn to do.
Most importantly doing what you loved to do....serving your ommunity making a better and safer place for us all.

Rest in Peace my brother, YOU WILL NEVER BE FORGOTTEN!!

Deputy Smith known as Smitty to his friends and coworkers, will be more than missed. He was another Dad to me, he trained me and taught me everything I know about my position. The entire jail including staff thought he was my actual father. He protected me guided me and showed me how to handle some of the jobs worst parts with a smile on my face! He was a great and loving father to his kids and even tho his size and looks could make a grizzly bear poop his fur Smitty was our shifts own Teddy Bear! I will love and miss you always Smitty! Rest in peace!
