Reflections for Police Officer Kevin E. Ambrose

Kevin was one of the very first officers I met when I was a young Cadet in Spfld in the early 1980's. He was a great person and he always made me laugh. He had the perfect outlook on the job and was just an all around great guy. Kevin was a Cop's cop. We will never forget your heroic actions yesterday saving the life of the young woman and her baby. Rest in peace Kevin.

Kevin was a great guy, a great father, and someone who was a role model for those who wish to enter law enforcement. He understood the job and extended those same values to everyone he came across, during his daily patrol. If you met Kevin, you left with a good feeling for his manner and ability to do a difficult job and still maintain a smile on his face. He did not look down on those he served but rather looked upon everyone as an equal who would be served with the all the respect we would all respect when confronted with meeting a law enforcement officer for the first time in out lives. He will be missed but his smile and his caring manner will never be forgotten. It was an honor and a special moment when I served along side Kevin Ambrose. I wish his family peace and wanted them to know that Kevin, really was a special person doing a very special job in the most difficult of times.

....A Letter From Heaven
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say,
Though first of all to let you know I arrived OK.
I'm writing this from heaven, here I dwell with Spirit above,
Here there's no more tears of sadness, here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy because I am out of sight,
Remember I am with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
Heavens warmth covered me and said "I welcome you".
"It's good to have you back again, you were missed while you were gone,
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
We need you here so badly, you're part of our great plan,
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

Spirit gave me a list of things that were wished for me to do,
And foremost on that list - was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in your bed at night the day's chores put to flight,
Spirit and I are closest to you...in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
Because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry a while; it helps relieve the pain.
Remember there would no flowers unless there was some rain.
I wish I could explain to you all that Spirit has planned.
If I were to tell you, you would not understand.
One thing is for certain, though my life on earth is over,
I'm closer to you now than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb,
But together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too;
That as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and in pain,
Then you can say to me at night.."My day was not in vain".
So now I am contented...that my life was worthwhile,
Knowing as I passed along the way I made somebody smile.
So if you meet someone who is sad and feeling low;
Just lend a hand to pick him up as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps, only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go from that body to be free,

Remember you're not going...you're coming here to be with me .... It Is Written ....
Psalm 48:14
For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end. (NIV) ...Its By The Grace Of God That We Live , Its By The Grace Of God That Our Place Of Eternity Is For Certain May You Continue To Walk In The Spirit Of God To The Bereaved Friends And Family ......Deepest Sympathy.....

I am a former Springfield, MA Police Officer working in Federal Law Enforcement in Baltimore, MD. I have not worn the uniform and badge of a Springfield Police Officer for nearly ten years yet, upon hearing of the death of Officer Kevin Ambrose, I am mourning his death as though I never left. I never worked with Kevin while I was with Springfield save for a few overtime jobs. He was always assigned to another shift because he had much more seniority. Despite that, I still feel his loss as though I have lost a brother because, in actuality, I truly have. We wore the same unifrom, patrolled the same streets, and fought the same fight. He would have defended my life on those streets just as I would have done for him. The City of Springfield lost a great man yesterday, he will never be forgotten.
