Jeff was a very cautious Officer and served with pride. It was my honor to be a part of his training regime in 2005. He will be sorely missed.

Jeff's passing should serve as a reminder to all of us that the cost of caring for others & helping them change can be higher than we ever anticipate or expect. Remember this message every day you report for duty. I know that I will.

As the sister of Jeff McCoy, our family can not thank each of you enough for your beautiful words, memories and most of all service you give not only our family but the communities in which you live. As a family that has been in law enforcement forever we sometimes forget how quickly things can change. How each one of you take your life in your hands just doing what God has called you to do.
So, today I pray that God places his arms around each of you to protect, comfort and return you safely to your loved ones. You are precious and needed for so much.
We know as we greive this terrible loss, you too are grieving along with us. He is a man that touched so many. Someone mentioned his crooked sideways look, this brought such a wonderful moment for me, not only does his wife do this now, but also his son. It amazes how we take on characteristics of our loved ones.
Jeff was one of a kind. He would fight toe to toe with a client but in the end find a way to help. He would take a horrible situation and find the good. God was first in his life, family second and anyone else that needed him third. He served our country through the United States Navy. He immediately knew that law enforcement was his calling. As a family, we were never more proud of the life he made for himself. His sense of humor was amazing. He could make our children laugh at the littlest thing. I say all this to thank you for not remembering him as an officer, but as a man. A man that thought the world of the law enforcement community. You ALL were his brothers and sisters. Please never forget this man that loved you all. Keep the wonderful memories coming. Although you may not realize it, it is a comfort and a joy to hear each and every one.
Again, I pray for your safety and your comfort during this. May God be with each of us. We love and appreciate each and every one of you!

Kelli Nelmark (McCoy)
Sister of Jeff McCoy
