This is so sad. I lost my husband 3 years ago due to a gunshot and know what this family is going through. He was a true hero. I will pray for your family.

Mike, worked for my families business for 10 years before going to work for Pearl Police Department. Without a doubt, Mike was a man of fierce integrity, an honorable man with good firm morals. He absolutely loved and adored his wife Jeanne and Bailey, his little angel, was the light that made Mike shine so proud. Mike is the Epitome of COURAGEOUS!

If every child had a father like Mike, there would be no criminals. My heart aches for Jeanne and Bailey.

I, and my mom and dad, Bobby and Carole Sutton, will always love Mike and his precious family.

We are left to carry on, continue doing what most will not do and wipe the tear as we say "Rest in Peace, God Speed". Your family will be in our prayers and thoughts.

My heart is heavy from the tragic events of this day. I offer my deepest condolences to the friends and family of Investigator Walter as well as complete healing for the injured officers. There aren't sufficient words to express my gratitude for the bravery and protection provided by law enforcement, especially for the 3 gentlemen involved today. You are truly a special breed, Heroes disguised as angels. May God bless you all.

This fine young man played for me when I was a Certified Athletic Trainer with the Houston Astros. He always had a smile on his face and was a great guy. What a shame he was taken so soon. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family.

‎I did not write this poem; but believe it is appropriate for this sad time.

"Final Call"

An Angel In The Sky Must Leave His Place Of Rest,
Gently Tucking His Wings Beneath His Armored Vest.
For Duty Has Called, There Is Much Work To Do
Little Did He Know, This One Is Dressed In Blue.

Arriving On The Scene, He Knows Just What To Say,
"Follow Me, Fallen Brother, I'll Show You The Way."
"Your Duty Has Ended, Your Work Is Now Through."
"Come Hang Your Hat Beside Mine, I'm A Cop, Too."

Eric"
