Condolences to the Stanislaus County Sheriff's Department and to the family and friends of the officer that succumed to a mortal wound. May this be a reminder to all remaining officers and future ones, such as myself, one day, that death is unpredictable and we should all live each day as if it was the last, for it could be. It has to many before us and happens every day/night throughout the world, on every continent. The best thing is that Deputy Paris is no longer suffering. To his family, be strong, of good cheer, and do not forget that you have friends in his coworkers at the department, as well as the larger law enforcement family across the United States and throughout the world.

It is always beyond tragedy when one of us falls due to the thoughtless and reckless demeanor of a criminal. My condolences to the family and brothers of law enforcement. We all feel the pain of these losses. The courage of a person who wears a badge is only lost when we become numb to the job and the priviledge to wear it. God bless those that do.

I want to extend my thoughts and prayers to the family and friends of Deputy Sheriff Robert Paris and I ask all of you to keep them in your prayers.

Somebody killed a policeman today
And a part of America died…
A piece of our country he swore to protect
Will be buried with him at his side.
The beat that he walked was a battlefield, too,
Just as if he had gone off to war;
Though the flag of our nation won't fly at half-mast
To his name they will add a gold star.
The suspect that shot him will stand up in court
With counsel demanding his rights,
While a young widowed mother must work for her kids
And spend many long, lonely nights.
Yes, somebody killed a policeman today…
Maybe in your town or mine,
While we slept in comfort behind our locked doors
A cop put his life on the line.
Now his ghost walks the beat on a dark city street,
And he stands at each new rookie's side;
He answered the call… of himself gave his all,
And a part of America died.

A Policeman's Prayer,

Dear Lord, be with me when I am on duty, this day and every day. Let me be kind to the old and to the young be strong:but let me triumph over those whose acts are cruel or wrong.
Lord, when my own last summons comes and I stand in your court, may my rest with you be long and my punishment be short. Author Unknown
May the Lord give your family and the Department the strength to carry on and always remember the ultimate sacrifice you gave. God Bless my Brother

I'm broken to hear yet another tragedy has been inflicted on our heroes. I pray for you and your family Mr. Rober Paris. I'm attending the Police Academy in the near future and these tragedies always remind me of what I'm getting myself into. It's a shame that you had to leave after 16 hard working years of helping people on a daily basis. You didn't deserve this Officer Paris. I promise I'll never forget you, nor any other LE Officer that has lost their life in the line of duty. God bless you Officer Paris and "Godspeed"
