Reflections for Sergeant Ruben Howard Thomas, III

Sgt. Thomas as a fellow officer and your brother in the agency it hurts me deeply knowing you did your job as we all do in the trade to keep everyone safe. May you rest in peace in God's blanket to keep you warm and we will take your watch over from here. My prayers are with you family with love and care.

I wish I could put my Honor Guard uniform in storage and never have to attend another funeral of one of our brothers or sisters....Unfortunately that will never happen as we continue to do our best behind the walls and on the line to keep the public safe. Just remember that we will do our best to make your family comfortable during these trying times and we are there for "you"! We may be the forgotten law enforcement, but we never forget our own. Rest in Peace Brother and we'll see you at the gates.

To, The family and friends of Sgt. Thomas, I wish to express my sincere condolences and pray for peace in your hearts in these sad days. This is somethung as Correctional Officers we hope to never see happen to one of our friends and co-workers and it touches us with deep regret even when it happens hundreds or thousands of miles away to someone who we never knew, but we know him as our brother regardless of the miles because we walk in his shoes everyday. Please know that he provided a great service without regard for his own safety in order that your communities would be safe.
