He will always be remebered by all of us as we continue to carry his torch and his memory will be honored as all of us continue to fight the good fight and do the job that so many can not. The corrections officer stood and faced
his Maker, which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, corrections officer how shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To your Maker, have you been true?"

The corrections officer, with squared shoulders, said "No sir, I guess I ain't.
Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint; I've had to work most Sundays and at times my talk was rough and sometimes I've been violent,
because behind the walls it's tough.

But I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep.
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed by a cry for help though sometimes I shook with fear,
and sometimes; please forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here.
They never wanted me around except to calm their fears.

But if you have a place for me here, well...it need not be too grand. I never expected or had too much so if you don't...I'll understand."
There was silence all around the room where the saints respectfully stood.
As the corrections officer waited quietly, for the judgment...bad or good.

"Step forward now corrections officer, you've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets;
you've done your time in Hell."

On behalf of shift one at Metropolitan Detention Center Los Angeles it with the deepest sympathy for the family and fellow Officers that responded to the aid of these two Officers. It is important and all of our solemn duties to allow the public to realize the inmates supervised and warehoused in Federal,State prisons are extremely dangerous and staff are ill equipped to deal with these thugs!

We shall walk in honor of Arguello!!

Sergeant Ruben Thomas, the tragic loss of such a brother will not be in vain or forgotten. Your courage to stand with the others who vow to keep us safe from the violent criminals is a one like no other. We as law enforcement officers deal with those criminals during incidents. You on the other hand, dealt with them daily and I thank you deeply for that. My most sincere sorrow goes out to your daughter and fiance as well as to your close co workers honored to serve by your side. May you rest in peace and God stand with you now.

R.I.P. SGT. THOMAS
The Correctional Officer stood and faced God,
Which must always come to pass,
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you CO,
... How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
... The CO squared his shoulders and
said, "No, Lord, I guess I ain't,
Because those of us who work inside,
Can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime
When the bills got just too steep,

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.

I know I don't deserve a place
Among the people here,
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod,
As the CO waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you CO,
You've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."
