It is rather for us, the living, to be dedicated here to the great task remaining before us - that, from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they here, gave the last full measure of devotion - that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain."

All mankind is of one author, and is one volume; when one man dies, one chapter is not torn out of the book, but translated into a better language; and every chapter must be so translated...As therefore the bell that rings to a sermon, calls not upon the preacher only, but upon the congregation to come: so this bell calls us all: but how much more me, who am brought so near the door by this sickness....No man is an island, entire of itself...any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in mankind; and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee

Detective David White set an example with his faith in God and his respect for his fellow man for all of us to emulate. I had the honor of attending the BLE Academy in Jacksonville, Florida with him. He truly was a “regular guy” with a captivating smile. He made you better just by being around him. His service to his community in Clay County and his patriotism for his country is truly unmatched.

“Be bold and mighty forces will come to your aid.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife and children and also the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

David I remember when you graduated from the Police Academy and Ann brought you over to my home and introduced us. We talked for over an hour about the different agencies in the area and the opportunities each offered. Your heart was with wanting to work for the Clay County Sheriff’s Office because you had lived in the County all of your life. When you walked back across the street to your mother and father in-laws home, I thought to myself, he is going to make a positive impact and be a shining star. My prediction was accurate based on your performance and commendations during your career. I enjoyed our brief conversations at work or when you were visiting your mother and father in-law’s. You are a true gentlemen, a hero and I will never forget you. God Bless
