Officer Gemmell, it has been 115 years since you were taken from us. New England law enforcement has continued to thrive, learn and become safer due to the traditions and sacrifices that you and too many others have made for us. Thank you for your service.

Time may have passed but you are not forgotten. I believe as long as someone remembers you or speaks your name, you are still with us.
Thank you for your heroism.

You were murdered by a coward who, I hope, faced true justice for his crimes, if not in this life, then in the next. Pawtucket is a great city and a lot of credit goes to the fine Police Department it has. I thank you for your service on this 106th anniversary of your sacrifice.

God Bless and may you be resting peacefully, Brother.

I rode my bicycle last year with Law Enforcement United. I was given a black metal bracelet which is inscribed with Special Officers William W. Gemmell's name and end of watch. If there are any family members who would like to have it I would be glad to send it. I wore the bracelet on the 250+ mile bike ride to Washington for the candlelight vigil at the Law Enforcement Memorial.

To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. I am privileged to be first to pay tribute to you on this site.Your heroism and service is honored today, the 104th anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
