I worked with Officer Thomas at Turner Field during the Atlanta Braves home games. I was an usher she was there to make sure we all were safe, with that big beautiful smile. She was a very pleasant and nice police officer.

Gail, you were a coworker, a friend, and a mentor. Your smile could open up a room and your personality could make anyone smile. It has been a privilege to have known you and to have worked daily with you. While I know you are in a much better place now than we are in, just know you are missed. Thank you for all you have done for all of us.

Officer Thomas always walked into my part-time job with a smile and to assure all is well with me and her conrads(off duty officers/security) We would exchange stories of our child(ren), what the night time hours had to bring as it was never a dull moment, and she would remind me how i had a long stretch ahead. Although I did not know her in depth I was happy to see her drop in at 1 or 2am just smiling.

It is always sad to hear of a death of any police officer. They are true heros who place there lives in danger on a regular basis for strangers. But the death of Mrs Thomas is a particularly sad situation. Not only did she die while helping a fellow officer during a crash but to be hit by a young woman that had been DWI. Thomas being hit may have prevented this young woman Chasity from killing many people. She died a hero and will live in our hearts and memories as a hero. I send my thoughts and prayers to her daughter who lost her mother.
