It is a rare privilege to know someone for a few short months and feel like you were childhood friends from day one. Happy, sad, exhausted or energized, she lived selflessly and without hesitation. The joy of the Lord was her strength that never ended!
I am so proud of you, my friend. Thank you for giving this life all you had been gifted and for living unashamed. I will miss you tremendously but I am already excited about that day ahead...no more tears... and I can't wait to hug your neck!

SPO Thomas,

Every chance I get I look at the current losses! Although I never met you I know in my spirit you were a true guardian angel and a loving spirit! As a healthcare professional and family member of LEO's, when ever we in an Emergency room get that call of an officer down our hearts drop! It is a true tragedy that you were taken from your family and agency! May God bless and comfort your family as you watch over them and your brothers and sisters in Blue!

Running calls in Zone 5 will never be the same. No matter what my mood was prior to working a scene with you, I always left in a good mood because of your positive attitude and radiant smile. Your smile brightened the dark nights you worked. My thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, APD, and all of my fellow public safety workers in the City of Atlanta. You will be forever missed, and never forgotten. Thank you for your years of service.

Gail,

Every time we met, we greeted each other with a smile.  Regardless if my day was tough when our paths crossed you always made me smile with your smile. Over the past couples of days I have heard you laugh over and over and your smile is etched in my mind.  As a fellow Dispatcher and then YOUR Dispatcher at one point, it was my pleasure knowing you for almost 20 years. Rest In Peace.

Dear God, I did my job with swift and ease. I performed to the best of my abilities knowing you would be pleased. I put on my uniform everyday, not knowing if my roll call prayer would be the last I say. Now I know my job is complete and as I stand before you I hope your proud of me. My daughter Jasmine please tell her don't despair, I'm standing at heaven's gates ready and prepared. My fellow officers who I loved so much, don't shed any tears because I will ALWAYS be near. Your guardian angel is what I am and I will still be there to lend that helping hand.
Dear GOD as I stand before you, uniform perfect and boots shined. I'm ready for my place in heaven to watch over those I left behind. To my dear sweet child of mine continue to press forward with your head held high. I love you beyond measure, there's no need to explain, for you are my pride and joy, my everything. Weep softly my love your mom is here, I'll wipe away your tears so softly with care. My time has come to meet my father above and with that said I leave my mark of love.

Dedicated to Officer Gail D. Thomas

Sweet, sweet Gail! I absolutely love the opportunity that God allowed me to get to know you at Passion City Church! I will never forget the times that we got to talk while waiting on my friends to walk through the doors of 515 (especially talking about chicken and dressing). haha You and I shared a special smile, laugh, and of course that hug! Every time I would say thank you for serving us, you would glow with that beautiful smile and humbly say, "It is always my pleasure." The very first thing that I always did every Sunday was walk over to you, give you a great big hug, and we would talk about our week. I sure will miss that conversation Sunday! So grateful for you, your service, and your love for our Lord and your daughter! I sure will miss you...but I am smiling on the inside because I know you are with the One who loves you the most!

As a morning watch supervisor, I had the privelage of meeting and interacting with Gail Thomas almost nightly. She always had a great attitude about life and the job. We had our last conversation the Sunday night before her tragic death. I will always remember her and the way she approached life. Rest In Peace SPO Gail Thomas!!!!!

Gail,

Every time I talked to you, you had a smile. I remember backing you up on a drunk male on the connector southbound, and we shared a hug after you cuffed the guy--that was the last time I saw you. You were always positive and upbeat. Losing you is a loss for not just APD but the law enforcement community as a whole. I will always miss you.

Dear Deputy Gail and your family as a former Deputy in the CSI Dept or the Caddo Parish, in Shreveport, LA, I am terribly, terribly sorry for your loss and the loss your family is experiencing! If only drivers would be careful when they see flashing lights and change lanes as they are supposed to (!) everything is much smoother ... many more officers and civilians, too!

My former husband was a Patrol Deputy in Caddo as well and he got me a scanner because he knew I was terrified each time he left our home .... before our marriage, he was shot through, through his elbow, passing directly though..somehow again again a miracle!

He has remarried and living in the home that should have been ours ... except is now his and the very same woman he cheated on with his 1st wife and ME! I didn't know about him cheated on the 1st wife, or I'd have called and asked her about it because she is a very, very gracious and kind Christian woman ..... as even since he came home from an extra job, pick a fight, waking me from a sound sleep as I had to work the next morning, early @ different job, as he accused me of truly unbelieving thing, he it turned out HE WAS THE ONE!!!

May God give you ALL YOUR JEWELS FOR YOUR CROWN and may God help ease your family's piece of mind.

This is so hard for me to process. I look at your picture in the yearbook and can't believe you're gone. Everyone talks about your smile and how you would light up a room. That's what I want to continue to remember about you and not of the tragic way in which you were taken from us. I know you worked hard for your family and for the community. We are very proud of you. I will truely miss you. God bless your familly and the APD family.
