Our daughter, Margaret, will always be in our thoughts and hearts. As we remember her we think of the daughter who loved her Lord and as a result loved all of nature, who was a friend to everyone, who had the courage to try new things, who had the determination to achieve her dreams ,who had the ability to make everyone feel better and who grew up to be a loving wife and mother. Memories of Margaret are still constant and powerful because that is the impact she left in my life. She was fiercely determined, loyal, and an ever present smile. All of which are so greatly missed everyday. I think of her family often and know that they miss these moments too because no one was like Margaret and no one will ever be.

Margaret it just seems like yesterday you were sitting in the break room of CHOH. You were there because you were expecting you first child and were on limited duty. We all knew you hated being in the office but you still had a smile on your face that lit up the room. You are one of the best people I have ever worked with and we will never forget you. God bless you and may he comfort and be with your family.

I remember this incident for two reasons: First, I lived in Ashford WA in the early '50's when my dad worked at Mt. Rainier. Second, because it was such a cold-blooded incident. I pray that the Kritsch's memory of their daughter will be assuaged by the wonderful memories of her. She will always be remembered by those who know of the sacrifices of the Thin Blue Line.

Hello again my friend. As I strap on my vest and head out on patrol, I will think about you on the anniversary of your passing. I will remember as always the day I met you at the lake. Working together, sharing laughs, having a beer with the crew. What a fun summer we had. Id give anything to see that smile and have one more beer with you. I watched this story on YouTube. Its called Heroes Behind the Badge. The guy had no camping gear, only guns and body armor. They believe that he was going to just go in there and go on a shooting spree. What Margaret did was eliminate that threat by blocking the road and putting her life on the line and in doing so she paid the ultimate price. Rest in Piece Ranger Anderson. You are a hero. Five years ago on New Year's Day our beloved daughter Margaret gave her life to protect the lives of others. She remains, as always, held closely in our hearts. Grief over the years changes but it is still there. Grief is not a sign of a lack of faith or strength of character but the result of how much you have loved. This is the third year that a fund we established in her memory has provided needed equipment and/or training of our local Sherriff's Department. Our daily prayers are that all law enforcement officers return home safely at the end of their shifts.

Dear Margaret:

I grieved the day you were murdered. I was only one year into a 5-year journey toward becoming a law enforcement ranger for the National Park Service. Having lived in Seattle for many years, I knew your park. I knew where you were senselessly killed.

Your death caused me to redouble my efforts. It also reminded me of the service Rangers provide the people who visit the National Parks. It reminded me that the profession I was on a track to enter was dangerous. It meant there would be no routine days...

A week after you died I bought a blue bracelet that bears your name and the date you died. While I worked my way toward becoming a Ranger, I wore it only when I practiced my shooting. When I finished, I would take it off and pack it away in my Sig case. No one knew I had it.

I took my academy classes in a room now dedicated to you. The sign on the door with your laser cut name... When all the other students cleared out, I knew you were there, somehow helping to guide...

I was lucky to get my first posting in the park I love the most. I’ve completed my first season of service. It’s been a dream come true. A few weeks ago, I took the bracelet from the gun case and now wear it everyday. I figure I’ve earned the right to do so. I hope you would have approved.

I honor you. I truly know how deep was the sacrifice you made. I now know the job you did to protect parks and people. I’ll help others carry forward your work, emulate your spirit, and meet the same commitments you did. I will do what you devoted all of yourself toward doing. Your end of watch is my call to action. Part of what he took from you I now have. It’s my duty now.

I'm a retired Police Officer from California and a member of POLICE Together We Served. I noticed this post today, and I'd like to share my sympathies with you and your family. I'm acquainted with a Police Officer Loss in that one of my best friends and fellow Police Officers was shot and killed in the line of duty in December 1982. I've not gotten over that. Please accept my condolences, and my prayers to our God to help you with your grief. It's a terrible thing that we have monsters on this earth who ignore precious life and take it. Thank you for your Hero's sacrifice. Such a young and beautiful person. So sorry.
