Special Agent Knapp,
I have had the honor and the privilege of getting to know you better through some wonderful articles I've read and through your family. I remember when you gave your all to save a precious life. I was so sad when I read about your loss as you are a part of my FBI family. I was very touched though that you did what you did for a stranger. Greater Love Hath No Man.
I know you and my dad are dear friends now.... sharing stories about life, love, your families, honor, fidelity, bravery and integrity. I am excited to meet you as well.
I pray for your family. Rest well Sir. You are one of my Heroes.

No te olvidaremos.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiance Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Agent Knapp. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Danny he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Danny's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Danny's life was about so much more than the way he died. Danny will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Agent Knapp, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiance Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been nine years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
Would I save a life without regard for my own life? Do I possess that "greater love"? I've always believed that I do and that I would. Unfortunately I haven't lived a life that would help me to be that person. Once I heard how Danny had died, I wanted so much to be like him. To be the kind and gentle person that loves people so much that he would lay down his life for them, even a complete stranger. Lessons in life hit you harder when they happen to you or your friends and family. I pray that I can learn from this experience and aspire to be like my friend, and that if and when the time arises for me to make that choice I won't have to, the answer will be yes.
Danny, thank you so much! You were an inspiration to me in life and you are again in death. Thanks to his parents for raising such a wonderful son. He is greatly missed by us all.

To the family and co-workers of Agent Knapp. My husband was an officer and also drowned in the LOD. He was on a picnic and a boy fell in the river. Thru all these years of pain and grief, I can say how proud I am that my Kevin served in Law Enforcement and that his split decision to save a life was the right one, even with the pain we have endured. Never doubt that he did what he did was who he is and who he had become and will always be. He faced the dragon head on while others watch, only wondering what they should do. It is that heart of a lion that you know, and will be in your heart, for eternity. Grace and peace I leave to you.

Danny,

I sure hope you left us knowing how much we all admire and love you. You were the one person who brought peace to work on a daily basis. Your calm, quiet ways of handling everything kept us balanced. How many times I joked around with you telling you, "Danny you need to stop being a trouble maker" and you just smiled, nodded your head and whispered I know, I know. You were our historian, you got along even with our most difficult co-workers and Im sure you know who I'm talking about. That shows how good of a human being you were. You were such an example to follow and I will always remember your voice when you used to say "Im boricua de pura cepa". I only have good memories of you. And I just want to say that it was a true blessing, a privilege to know you and to work alongside with you. You came to San Juan as a Special Agent, but when the time came, you left San Juan as a Hero and most definitely you went Home, where you will spend eternity shining all over us. You will always be in our hearts and our thoughts. We will become better human beings, better co-workers because of the legacy you left in us. We will miss you each and every day! To Danny's family, my most sincere condolences and my respects for raising such a wonderful human being.
See you later Danny!

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"
