To the family and friends of Officer Clifton Lewisr, his fellow deputies, and most especially to Officer Lewis:

We honor your service to your community as a police officer and you will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Clifton was killed in the line of duty. It is obvious he was well-loved by many and well-respected by his peers as reflected in the loving reflections left for him.

May his loved ones continued to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. To Clifton's family, you are in my heart's embrace today.

Each day that a police officer dies in the line of duty is tragic and heart wrenching, but I cannot help but think of the nightmare that changes a home decorated for the holidays and a household who had just celebrated the joy of Christmas to a place of enormous grief and shock.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the years of distinguished service Clifton gave to his community and the citizens of Illinois, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on December 29, 2011

Cliff, It was a great honor to have been assigned to sit next to you in the academy, Ill never forget the great times we had, and I will never forget you. At nearly 6"8, standing next to you everday for roll call, I use to think...."man oh man, what did I get my self into" as you towered over me! We called you "hightower", from the old police academy movies, however you were a gentle giant, and the world has lost a great man, Cliff I will never forget you... we will never forget you.....goodbye my friend, my co-worker, and one of the greatest police officers Chicago, has ever known....
