I have known John for most of his life having cared for his aunt, uncle and grandmother in the nursing home over the years. I knew his dad really well and his mom as well as his mother in law. He was good at his job and the city has lost a valued officer. RIP John and prayers going out for his family.

I am so sorry for the loss of one of Grenada's finest. I too have a family member in law enforcement so this hits my heart pretty hard. My thoughts and prayers are with this fine man's family as they go through this ordeal. I didn't know this officer, but to me it doesn't matter, he was one of our law officers who worked hard to help keep Grenada a safe place to live. May God Bless and Keep Your Family.

The city of Grenada is very proud of all our law enforcement officers. They put their lives on the line every day for the citizens of Grenada. Captain Haddock was an exemplary officer, son, husband, father, and friend. Our whole city mourns today for the loss of this officer, his family, and all the law enforcement brethren.

I am not in law enforcement,I am not a cops wife, sister or mohter. I am someone who sees the police at work on and off the streets. I know they must feel like it is a thankless job sometimes. But I know it's not. I thank-you. I am so sorry for the loss of Captain John Wayne Haddock. In the arms of the angels, may he fly away. With the arms of the angels may they surround his family friends and brother officers. Rest now, another journey awaits.

My heart goes out to you and your family. All officers take a chance everyday, risking our lives for the greater good. You saved many lives today, and for that all L.E.O. and everyday citizens are very thankful.

May you rest in peace. May your family find comfort from all of your officers at your department but, from all officers who choose to put on the uniform everyday and uphold the law and make the world a safer and better place.

As the department morns the loss of this outstanding Officer, I felt it only fitting to remind each and every one of you that we, the public, understands the stress associated with your job on a daily basis and how it has magnified with loss of CPT Haddock. Let there be no doubt that it takes a special person to bear the scars associated with your jobs on a daily basis in pursuit of justice and protecting the American way of life. I’m sure that all the citizens of Grenada are indebted to you for your sacrifices and morn this horrific loss with you. I know that I do.

Everyone knows how John was, He would remind each one of you that your guard is down and that can’t happen. He would probably tell you to get your head back in the game and take care of each other. I know this because he was the same way with me when we served together 28 years ago in the Army. Our paths carried us separate ways when we left Panama, but the thing about John is he could always pick up where he left off no matter how much time had passed since he saw you last. I was proud of John’s accomplishments and the fact that I could call him my Friend, my brother… If you were John’s friend, you were friends for life…

"Tears of a Cop"
I have been where you fear to go...
I have seen what you fear to see...
I have done what you fear to do...
All these things I've done for you.

I am the one you lean upon...
The one you cast your scorn upon...
The one you bring your troubles to...
All these people I've been for you.

The one you ask to stand apart...
The one you feel should have no heart...
The one you call the man in blue...
But I am human just like you.

And through the years I've come to see...
That I'm not what you ask of me...
So take this badge and take this gun...
Will you take it? Will anyone?

And when you watch a person die...
And hear a battered baby cry...
Then so you think that you can be
All those things you ask of me...?

My prayers go out to John's family in this terrible time, although I never had the opportunity to meet you all, I feel as though I know you. John was very proud of his family and everyone that knew him knew that as well. I will personally place a memorial brick into the Military Police Memorial Grove, Fort Leonard Wood, MO. in recognition of his service to our nation as a Military Police Soldier and as a public servant who paid the ultimate sacrifice doing a job that he loved. If there is anything that the Macon family can do to assist you in this time of need and transition, please don’t hesitate to ask.

This article is the first that I'm hearing of this. It has brought tears to my eyes. I met Captain Haddock once at a local training academy and was impressed with the way he had tremendous insight of law enforcement. May God be with his family and comrades, and give them strength through this difficult time...
