Inspector Lewis Allison Highsmith was my grandfather. I never met him, as he was killed when my father was only seven years old. However, I have a special connection to him. I have been a law enforcement officer since 1979.

I hope my grandfather can look down and be proud of his son, my father, so served heroically at the age of 15 in the Normandy invasion. I. Hope he is proud of all of his children and grandchildren, and the legacy left behind.

I am honored to be first to leave a reflection for you and it is especially menaingful to me as you were working in my home state. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 75th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.
