I did not know Officer Fontes but I am sure he was a good man. Any person who dies in the line of duty, regardless of whatever duty it may be, will be promoted to Heaven and joyfully received by The Lord.

I am sorry for his family and friends.

Ofc Fontes, We don't know or understand why God wanted to take you so soon. God had a reason why and we who are left behind question why. Your work here on earth is now done. You have touch many countless lives during your short time here. And now you will watch from above and see the fruits of your labor appear. Rest in peace my brother in Christ. As I patrol the streets of San Francisco, I know that you will always be riding alongside me watching my back. Aloha & Mahalo

Oh that officer that passed away Wednesday Eric Fontes is a real good and GOD fearing man, he was one of our volunteers that came out to share GOD’S word with us and cared very much about people like myself. He didn’t judge but just shared GOD’S word that we may change our old ways. His last sharing to us was that he loves coming here to fellowship with us cause not that we need the change but he does. Change was our last subject shared with him; he will be dearly missed by all the brothers here. If you could please post something on face book or anywhere people can read that this man of GOD made a difference in a lot of our life’s in his prison ministry, and our hearts and prayers go out to his families, he also shared with us once that not be sad if something happens to him but to rejoice that he is in a better place then this world. He will always be remembered by his invisible ukulele that he always plays with a song. GOD BLESS. Please don’t forget to post to show the world that GODS people are everywhere, even in prison and pray for his family.

My heart goes out to Eric's wife, children and his parents. Another unfinished life in the line of Duty. Our Law enforcement officers put their lives on the line every day. They are courageous and giving. We can honor them by supporting the Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Fund which is wanting to erect a memorial on the grounds of our State Capital. R.I.P Eric

He was an awesome person all around. Always smiling and always positive. This is the 2nd person we lost in our family in the line of duty. Now he will be in heaven watching over everyone. I can never forget that smile that was on his face all the time. I can never ever say that I saw him upset or angry at anyone. He would want everyone to forgive that boy that killed him, thats just how he was... a big warm hearted person... .He will be forever missed & never ever forgotten... We all love you Uncle Eric... Rest in Peace

I had the honor to be the District 8 commander from 9/2006 to 3/2011. Officer Eric Fontes was a true , man of God, true gentleman and an inspiration to his peers, supervisors and members of his Church and community. He was everything a patrol commander could wish for: dedicated, professional, efficient, effective, respectful and committed to "Serving and Protecting with Aloha".

My deepest condolences to his family here on Oahu and Molokai.

Aloha Ke Akua
