To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 69t hanniversary year of your death. I am priviliged to be among the first to leave a tribute to you. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Time never diminishes respect. Your memory will always be honored and revered. Rest In Peace.

During the 2012 Police Week Memorial from 5/9/12 thru 5/13/12 I have the distinct honor of participating in the Law Enforcement United Road to Hope memorial bicycle ride from Chesapeak Virginia to Washington D.C. to honor fallen officers. During this ride I have the honor of riding for Officer Purcell in rememberance of the sacrifice he gave as he served as a police officer. It is truly an honor to ride in his name and memory. He was and will forever be a great man.

Although I never knew my Granpa, it was wonderful researching his history and finding out what a GREAT man he actually was. Knowing that he not only gave his life in the line of duty as a police officer, but he also served our country in WW1, gives me some sense of his selfless character. He was also a champion fiddler in five states - Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky, Mississippi and Florida. I sure wish some of us grandchildren would have been blessed to have known this special man.
You will never be forgotten Granpa. I will love you forever.
