RTP Officer Ackerman, My husband showed me a newspaper of your passing and i was shocked because you were born 3 days before my daughter and your mom and i went to high school together and were friends.... The lord needed you to keep everyone in check in heaven. From what i have seen about you sounds like you were a Great Man who made his mom Cindy so proud. I can see the look on her face now! Rest in Peace OFFICER DANIEL ACKERMAN.

My son placed 3 flags on your gravesite today. He was one of many boys scouts doing so on this day for military veterans and police. He was very proud to have had the privilege of doing so. Of all the locations he visited, you stuck in his mind for some reason as he walked me back over to your resting place to show me. It revealed to me Officer Ackerman, you are still a wonderful example of a hero to young men. Thank you.

Yo, Brah. Today (November 10, 2014), I spent some with a few LAPD SWAT Lads at the “LAPD-USMC 239th Birthday Luncheon,” prior to heading-over to “HEROES,” where I had a meal, under Your photograph.

Hello Sir,
I am currently a Recruit for LASD Class #403. I have completed 5 weeks of training so far. The more I learn about law enforcement, the more I respect and admire the work you provided. Thank you for keeping the streets safe for me and my family. I will work as hard as you did to hopefully one day become a successful SWAT member and continue to protect life and property.

Daniel, Although it has been almost a year and a half, your passing still stings like the day it happened. I get angry at everyone (family, friends, the department, the hospital, your friends), and feel like I have no answers. But this I know, God has a plan and we are part of it. I will see you again, and until then I will try to make sense of what was left behind. I miss you, and think of you every day. In addition I know you are laughing knowing that what they would not do for you in life, they have all had to do in your death, " Recognize and honor you for your service!" I love you, and wished we had more time. Never forgotten, the man, the daddy, the son, the brother, this is how you will be remembered.

Daniel, as we approach the one year anniversary of your passing it still seems unreal. I still expect to see you pulling up behind me in your squad car. Loosing you was a devastating event, and on top of that loosing your daughter made this situation unbearable at times. Your untimely passing has taught us to make every day count and not to wait to be with the ones you love. I know your job kept you away alot, but you were never out of our hearts and minds. I look forward to the day that we meet again. You will never be forgotten.

My nephew, friend, Christmas came and went, but not the same as the years before. No loud booming voice making jokes and telling of Christmas past. No poking fun of my hokey traditions. An empty seat where you and your baby girl would be during our annual ornament hanging. You are missed, but not forgotten. A beautiful ornament with your face will hang on our tree's for a life time. You are loved by all of us, and you made a difference in our lives. I want every one to remember, whether friend or foe, you were a good decent person, a great daddy, and an honest cop. I will remind your baby girl how much you loved her every time I see her.

Until we meet again my love.

To the family and friends of Officer Daniel Ackerman, his fellow officers, and most especially to Daniel:

We honor your service to your community as a law enforcement officer. You will always be remembered and revered. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of our entire family, I wish to extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when Daniel was killed in the line of duty. It is obvious he was well-loved by many and well-respected by his peers as reflected in the loving reflections left for him.

May his loved ones continued to be supported by their law enforcement family and other police survivors. Our family grieves with you and for you. To Daniel's family, you are in my heart's embrace today. I share your anquish in losing a beloved family member which surely has to be life's greatest sorrow.

This was your family's first Christmas without you. They are all in my thoughts and prayers during these difficult days.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Daniel gave to his community and the citizens of California, and the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on July 30, 2011.

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiance Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Officer Ackerman. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Daniel he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Daniel's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Daniel's life was about so much more than the way he died. Daniel will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Officer Ackerman, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiance Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been eight & a half years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)
