Rest in peace brother. We will keep the fight from here. I hope in time your family and agency finds peace in your passing.

Police Officer II Vaquero
San Diego Police Department

July 15, 2011

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Tim,

I only pray that I can live my life half as honorable as you did. Your devotion to your fellow man has inspired so many this past week. Although you are gone from our sight, you will forever remain in our hearts and on our minds. Your compassion to protect the rights of the less fortunate and less privileged should be a reminder to everyone that we all have the ability to do extraordinary things, but few of us have the determination to become extraordinary people. You sir, were one of those people. I will miss your voice on the radio, but I know that you are in a much better place. Take your seat with the Heavenly Father for it is your turn to rest. Your work is done. Signal C and may God bless and comfort your wife and children. We have the watch and will press on in your honor.

I pray brother that you are at peace. I watched and listened during your service as people related stories of your faith and dedication to God. In our line of work, whether it be patrol, communications, the jail environment, etc - it is such a difficult thing to remain faithful and even harder to display your faith. We see and hear things every day that we cannot share. Most times it is hard to even discuss them with each other. Your faith in God, service to Him and love of the people you protected is inspiring. My hope is that we all strive to be more like you and to let our faith show. It is hard for me so I know it is hard for others...but it is easier when we see someone like you doing it.

My prayers are with your wife and children as well as your brothers and sisters at Memphis. Watch over them from above and always let them feel your presence.

For Patrolman II Timothy Warren:

As law officers we are called to situations of reckess and wanton acts by individuals who then turn their aggression upon the first law officer arriving on the scene. Our brother Timothy is among the bravest soldiers-of-the-law who have confronted a crazed individual and that has cost him his life. His fate is that which can well be any of us tomorrow.

We pray for Timothy's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

We are proud to render Officer Timothy Warren a final salute.
