To fully appreciate the heroes of the present, we must recognize our heroes of the past. Your heroism and service is honored today, the 102nd anniversary year of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer who was murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

I remember my mother sharing how she missed not knowing what it was like to not know a father and the love of a father. I watched her struggled with missing a father that she never knew. And all because of greed.

I remember mother being concerned for the children that were left without a fathers because of this event and on man getting a life sentence and the otherone the electric chair.

As a small child I observed my mother at times crying for no reason and then to find out that it was because of her missing her father. This usually occurred in July of each year.

I have been told by my life long friends that I appeared to be suffering from early childhood hurts. I have never been able to understand how I was hurt as a child. I had wonderful parents that never hurt me in any manner. There was no event that I can remember that woulc have left me with suffering from early childhood scares.

Then recently in the jounery of writing my book Who? Me! - Angry? that I came to understand that my childhood hurt and angry issues were coming seeing my mother suffer with her hurt and I'm sure at times anger because of the lost of her father 4 months before her birth...

Now this event has a multi-generational affect and continues to effect my children too.

While we do not blame anyone for the suffering of our family it is great to come to a better understanding of the results of the events that we have no control. Now on this centennial rememborance of Andrew Jackson Beatty he is still missed even though we never knew him.
