Sneak, I may not have known you as well as many but I thought you were a cool guy and a good cop. Thanks for capturing all those dirtbags I had warrants on and couldnt find. I appreciate the work you and your team did for me. It made our streets here in Pitt County safer, and my job a heck of a lot easier. Godspeed bro. Save me a seat.

My heart-felt condolences go first to the Lewis Family, who were not really expecting this tradgedy. I have a Son in Law Enforcement.....approx. 4 hours away from where I live, as he still lives in the City he was born. He is a Deputy with the Sheriff's Dept. there....& there is not a night that goes by that I don't have my Son in my prayers for God to keep him SAFE. That is ONE call that ANYONE who has family serving in Law Enforcement does NOT want to get. I ALSO want to give my condolences to the Nash County Sheriff's Office in North Carolina (yall AIN'T that far away from Georgia!), as THEY have ALSO lost a BROTHER. My Son told me when he first went into this field that, "Mama....we are ALL ONE TOGETHER in this line of work...just ONE BIG FAMILY". I am a true witness to this, as we have lost loved ones in the County he works in....so I again can relate to the sadness of the Officers. Then....to ALL of Mr. Lewis's FRIENDS....my condolences to you, as YOU, too have lost a dear friend. May God be with the Lewis family through this tradgedy, and just KNOW that he lost his life doing what he KNEW was the right thing to do. God bless ALL of you!

I knew immediately when my sister, Jane, called early Friday morning that something was wrong. and it was difficult to hear the tragic news of Warren's sudden death. I wish I could think of words that could ease the pain of this terribly tragic loss. Since I have lived away from Middlesex for years, I often asked about Warren and his family and I alway heard the nicest compliments about their helping others and the entire community. I know he was blessed to have such a wonderful family and my heart goes out to you and the community.

Sneak, you were truely one of a kind. I never saw you without a smile, and that had an effect on everyone you came in contact with, good guys or bad guys. At the end of the day, no matter who we were chasing, you showed us to treat the bad guy with respect. It will be hard to move on without you in this fight, but we all know that is what you want us to do...continue the fight against evil.

I thank you and your family for being a part of my life. I truely am a better officer and man because of you. You will always be a part of my life. I anticipate the day that we will meet again.

Today Nash County SO said goodbye to a talented officer, a father, a friend, and a person of genuine worth.

I didn't spend much time with "Sneak" but I had occasion to run into hime now and again over my 11 years in LEO work. It just happened that he was in my inservice class in 2009. The thing that I can share is that "Sneak" had an unbelivable reputation and a light inside of him. He was a quiet leader and a jokester at times as well. He obviously was devoted to his family and job. He maintained a sense of balance and devotion to both.

In watching all the agencies come togeathor today to honor "Sneak" I thought how blessed we are to have had the chance to honor him today by attending this celebration of his life. I thank the family for allowing us to know him and for them allowing us to celebrate his life with them and mourn his death as well.

For those of us who are left let us always remember....

Sneak,
I remember the day you interviewed for the Task Force. I knew right away I was going to love working with you. We shared some good times and alot of laughs. You were one of the most genuine persons I ever met. What you saw is what you got. I'm gonna miss that grin. Rest In Peace Brother.

Brother Rest In Peace and know that we continue the fight in your name. For the family of Investigator Lewis there are no words that I can say that will ease your loss. All I can say is that as a Deputy U.S. Marshal I am proud to say that we were able to count Warren as one of our own and he will always be remembered as a hero serving the very people he took an oath to protect.

Let me first say how so very sorrow our family is for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family and the many friends of US Marshal Lewis. Unlike alot of the post on this site, our family is new to the Law Enforcement Community. When my nephew began his career in law enforcement, we were so very proud of him. We have watched him grow into a wonderful young man, mainly because of the leadership and guidance from other officers like Marshal Lewis. My nephew joined the N.C Law Enforcement Task Force several months ago. He was one of the other three officers with Marshal Lewis on June 9th. For our family it was the first time that we have come face-to-face with the dangers that he faces everyday. From the moment we heard that there was a officer down, we were terrified. The messages where very confusing and for a short time my sister was being told that it was her son. After a little bit the call came with conformation, when she heard her son say. "Mama, I am ok". At that moment she was overcome with joy that it wasn't her son but at the same time she realized that it was someone's son. She cried tears of joy for her son and tears of sadness for the other son, that was taken way to soon. Later when things calmed down and my nephew called his mama again to reassure her that he was fine. She said, Son, I was so afraid. Please get another job. He said. "Mama, dying is something we face everyday. I love you but I also love what I am doing and it is my job".
I know without a doubt after reading all these messages, that this is how Marshal Lewis felt. We are blessed that our officer was not taken that day but we are also heartbroken for you and your family. Marshal Lewis gave the ultimate sacrifice on June 9th, 2011. We will continue to keep your family and All of Our Law Enforcement Families in our prayers.
MAY GOD BLESS THEM ALL!

My husband is Chief of Police and every time he steps out to work, I pray that he will always step back in to our home. I can only try to put myself in your shoes and feel your devastating loss and unbearable pain. I know many words of comfort will be said and I pray that they will give you the strength you'll need to get through this time in your life. May God be so ever present in your life today and always and may his love and strength help you to heal.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you, especially the children. May it help in some small way to know others care about you.

Reach out to us through the organization COPS (Concerns of Police Survivors) when you are ready. My son's daughter was only 18 months old and his son was 22 days old. Let us help you in any way that we can.
