Brother, the only way they could take you was the cowardly way....by ambush. They were too scared to face you like a man. I am proud of your service! Your example is a shining beacon to all! Rest now, and take comfort in the arms of the Lord.

To the Vann family, my heart goes out to you. Be proud of the example he set....he will always be there watching over you. When all is quiet, listen.....he is there. He always will be. Let your strength come from the Lord.

My boyfriend, a cop in VA, and I, are deeply saddened by this. I live in San Antonio and cannot believe this happened! This is not something Sgt Vann or his family deserved after 24yrs of service! We are very angry about these actions and hope more can be done to prevent things like this from happening. Our hearts go out to Sgt Vann's family. R.I.P.

Two days later and I still cannot believe that something like this happened. Sarge, I hope you realized how much of a difference you made in people's lives for your many years of service to this community. I hope you had the satisfaction of knowing that people appreciated you and looked up to you whether they were your co-workers or the people you served. My heart is broken for Yvonne, your children, your friends and your department. Our community has suffered a great loss that cannot be filled or replaced. Be assurred that we will not stop until justice is served and we will carry on the principles by which you and all of law enforcement have committed their lives to.
