Andrew,

I was so sad to hear about your loss. I never had a chance to meet you, but my husband Dave Blitz (Palos Verdes Estates Police) shared some great stories. I was at the hospital on business the same day you were taken there and I had a chance to speak to some of your colleagues about you. They were all heartbroken and had so much respect for you. You will be missed by everyone. Rest in Peace, Andrew and thank you so much for your service.

To Tracy, Garrett and Grant,

I know your loss is deep and my thoughts are with you during this time. I can't imagine what you are going through, but please take comfort in knowing that Andrew was a fine human being and respected by many.

Officer Andrew Garton,

I never knew you and didn't know anything about you. All I know is that I watched you from my driver's side mirror, approaching, riding strong and proud into your final moment on God's great earth. Although this hurts so deeply, I try to imagine that you heard the call of your heavenly father and you were only responding to fulfill another call of duty as you always have. Just a Jesus gave his life for a world that still refuses to love and honor him as commanded, you to have given that same sacrifice for all of mankind. Thank you for answering the call to protect and serve and then to sacrifice. Rest In Peace brother.

For Police Officer Andrew Garton:

Our duty as law officers means that we face whatever challenges exist during our tour of duty. Sometimes it is not the glory-filled action portrayed in movies or television - it is, rather, the routine of our day.

We regret to learn that our brother Andrew would meet his fate in very woeful, but yet so noble, way. His duty was for others and in the process he gave his life. This makes him a true soldier-of-the-law.

We pray for Andrew's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they reach-out to one another in the days ahead. We also pray for the other officer involved and that recovery be both swift and complete.

We are proud to render Officer Andrew Garton a final salute.

Cpl. Ralph D. Fiorenza (Ret.)
Pennsylvania State Police

Andrew,
I am shocked to learn about your death after just seeing you on Thursday at the Pasadena motor competition. I was looking forward to moving our professional motor officer relationship to one of good friends. I want you to know that you will be missed by many! A favorite quote of mine I would like to share. "It is far better to live one day as a lion, than a thousand years as a sheep." See you on the other side! God bless you and the Garton Family.
