Sometimes we dont realize how small of a world we live in until something tragic happens. I have known Sherri for several years from the time when her husband was chief in Queen City. The two of them and several other Queen city officers would always come down to Bloomburg and help at the fair every november. Sherri would always have a smile on her face no matter how late in the day it was. I found out Monday night that her mother and brother are neighbors of mine and have been for years but I never put the three of them together. Anytime we loose someone in this profession it is a sad day but when things like this happen close to home it makes more of an impression. My thoughts and prayers got out to her family and co workers. May she never be forgotten and rest in peace.

Deputy Sherri Jones is my step-mother. I am so proud to have not only known her, but to be part of her family. Only 6 weeks before this tragedy, my father, a retired Police Chief also passed away. My younger brother is currently a police officer. The spirit of all fallen heroes are riding along with all current police offiers. Honor them each and every day. Remain the heroes that you are and do not let their sacrifices be in vain. We Love You and will Miss You dearly!!

Sherri was my first cousin. We spent a lot of our childhood together, from climbing their china berry tree in the back yard to our first double dates in high school. She always had a smile, a kind word and seemed to always have it together. Sherri liked her job and took it very seriously. She will be missed by many. I am so sad I will never get to hug her and tell her how special I thought she was...Sherri may you rest in peace. Love always Pam

For Deputy Sheriff Sherri Jones:

The duty when handling prisoners is exceptionally hazardous. None of us can truly know what is in the mind of one who is incarcerated and possibly facing a long prison sentence. Violence can break-out at any time. We regret that our sister Sherri would become a victim of one who has little regard for those responsible for their care while in confinement. We now rely upon our justice system to bring justice for Sherri.

We pray for Sherri's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about her. May the be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

We are proud to render Deputy Sheriff Sherri Jones a final salute.
