Such a huge loss to the law enforcement community! Too many losses of gunfire fatalities; our laws should be more strict and severly enforced. My respect, appreciation and awareness of the ultimate sacrifice they make everyday for our communities is greatly & sincerely extended. May you rest in peace Patrolman Schmidt and may your family have the strength to cope and may they come to know that you would want them to be happy. You are the ultimate hero! I salute you. God Bless.... sister of VA Beach Fallen Officer Rodney F. Pocceschi EOW 6/23/03 Jaclyn Pocceschi Mosley

Though I never knew you, I cry for you
Though I never walked by your side, I cry for you
Though I never patrolled with you, I cry for you
I cry because the death that found you, you did not deserve
And as I cry I remember and I will never forget
The sacrifice that you made and the death you accepted.
May it be lesson for me,
May it make me more aware,
And may it keep me safe
And I can only pray by God’s grace no one will have to cry for me.
May God keep you, hold you in His hands, and give you peace.

I never knew you but I sure would have enjoyed very much knowing and working with you. From the Newhall incident 41 years ago this month that took 4 Brave young CHP officers, that occurred while I was working the South Los Angeles area that fateful night,to your Brave Act to save your Sgt's life, that type of Honor will never be forgotten...The times were almost the same when both events occurred, close to midnight.................

Thank you for following your instincts and never wavering from your sworn duties. Men such as you will never be forgotten. I only wish that you were still with us.

God Bless you and your family and you can rest now....Semper Fi...

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"
