Jonathan and his family are dear friends of mine and he is my husbands best friend. My husband and Jonathan who are both police officers and avid duck hunters seemed like brothers when they were together. Jonathan always put others first and had such a big heart. He would have literally given you the shirt off of his back. He will be missed greatly. I thank him for what he did, for his service and dedication to the Trumann police department. He was a great police officer, husband, dad, friend, and person all together.

The term 'Hero' gets tossed around somewhat loosely these days. In this case, Officer Jonathan Schmidt was shot in the neck, but managed to drag his wounded partner to safety before the suspect shot Schmidt several more times.

OFFICER SCHMIDT IS THE DEFINITION OF THE WORD HERO.

Rest in peace Officer Schmidt. May god bless you, your family, and your friends.

No words can possible convey my deep sorrow over this hero's death. What a selfless act to try to protect his seargent. My most heartfelt sympathies go out to his family co-workers and friends. To the community, please support the men & women in his department and do your best to offer support to his family. Remember that this family will be left to deal with this for the rest of their lives. Please support them long after the media blitz is over. Jonathan, you will be greatly missed. Your dedication to your job, city and family define you as a man. Chace will always be able to hold his head high, because of you love for him and Andrea and his siblings. They will miss you greatly, but they will always know without a doubt that you loved them and lived your life for them. I will miss seeing you across the field from me in the years to come, as we coach our sons baseball teams. I thank God for men like you, who stand watch over us at night. My family and I are praying for your family daily. God will see them through and see our city through this tragedy. You were my friend and Brother in Arms, but most of all, My Brother in Christ. Love you Man!

May I express my sincere condolences to the dept and Officer Schmidt's family.

I am from the London, UK and watch crime TV here and admire the work you guys put into the job. It is very sad when an officer is lost in the line of duty, whilst only doing his/her job. May God bless you all.
