It has been 7 years since I spoke with Craig. But in these last seven years I never forgot how good a human being he was, and how solid he was at protecting those around him. He served with me in Iraq and Afghanistan, and there never rose a doubt in my heart that I could trust Craig with my life, as he did so everyday. I will miss him, he was a good person, a good friend and devoted protector of the innocent. God Bless. We will miss you.

With deepest regret I offer condolences to the family & friends of Officer Birkholz and to the men and women of the Fond du Lac Police department. From all accounts Officer Birkholz's integrity and courage were above reproach.

On March 20th, the Thin Blue Line became a little thinner. However, men and women across the country shall pick up the mantle of leadership, courage, integrity, and self sacrifice that Officer Birkholz once bore. We will take up that mantle and continue to bring justice to the wicked where ever they may be.

God bless you, your family, and all those that had the pleasure of knowing you. Your sacrifice is not in vain. May your body lay in eternal rest and your soul tread the streets of heaven with Christ almighty!
