A note for the Breitkopf family:
I am so very sorry for the tragedy that you have all just experienced. Your husband and dad was a hero who paid the ultimate sacrifice in his quest to keep his community safe. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers as you try to rebuild a new life.
I have experienced and witnessed how painful this all is as my sister lost her beloved husband in the line of duty several years ago, and she was left behind to raise my two young nieces. Your reality is and will be so incredibly painful, and the void will always be within you, but life DOES become easier over time.
Officer Breitkopf will always be watching over you, and he will always be in your hearts.

Michelle
Sister-in-law of an officer who lost his life in the line of duty
