Though you and I never met, we walk the same path. Having lost a family member in the line of duty, I know the pain your family and friends will be going through for the rest of their lives. Please watch over them and comfort them in their times of sorrow. Your sacrifice will not be in vain, we will take it from here. Rest in peace and thank you for your service.

You fight what we fear
Day in, day out
For it is part of your creed
You fight what we fear
And you do it without a doubt
No matter what it is we may need

You fight what we fear
And you're not always perfect
But it takes alot of guts to be you
You fight what we fear
It's a time honored profession
An honor enjoyed by few

You fight what we fear
At times risking death
Answering the call no matter where
Yes, you fight what we fear
And if you should pass
On your way to Heaven
May God be your cover car there.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

To Officer Sheridan's family,
My heart goes out to your family for your great loss. There is no greater sacrifice than that of an officer giving his life to protect those around him. My prayers will be with your family for the years to come. You see, I was 5 when my father was killed in the line of duty, in the same manner. May God bring you an ubandance of support and love to help you through the days ahead.

This was too close to home. From the moment I heard what occurred my heart went out to you and your brother officers in Limon. You will be deeply missed and thank you to your wife and family for allowing you to help everyone else in you community. As Deputy Yowell said, we lost a "hero" along with a father, a husband, a friend, a brother and a comrade in arms. Rest in peace.

Jay we miss you and love you very much. I will alway remember the funny thing that seemed to happen when you were around. But one of the best memories I will have of you is this past summer. I vowed I would never get stopped and thanks to you mister Sheridan the vow was broken. You were the first officer that ever stopped me, but of course it was only for a head light. And being the great guy that you are you proceeded to inform my brother in law and the rest of Lincoln that you "busted!" me. I got about 20 calls that night to remind me to check my lights before I go anywhere. And of cource the last time I saw you we played the Wii golf game for three hours and I still couldn't beat you, what more fun those party's were when you showed up, great times! It hurts to think that you are no longer here with us. But rest in peace and know that your family will be taken care of and that you left a great legacy on this world. We love you Jay!
