The words I leave here will never compare to the memories that I will carry for the rest of my life. Thank you so much for squaring me away as a rookie. Helping me out on the range and just being there to calm me down when I tried out for SWAT. I will miss our conversations on Hwy 218 and Brief Rd at the red light to. May God bless your soul and may you watch out over all of us.

I am very shocked and saddened about the loss of Fred Thorton. I remember I was a rookie officer in a neighboring department when I met Fred. We were neighbors for a time. After I had been released to independent patrol, I regularly spoke to Fred about police work and how to handle the job. His advice was greatly appreciated and I tell my rookies about the things I learned from him. My condolences to his family and close friends.

Fred, I'm so sorry. I bet Gene and everyone was glad to get another headstrong capable officer in heaven but you sure are gonna be missed here on earth. To Fred's family, I cannot express to you how sorry that I am for your loss. You will find out in the days to come just how large your police family is and how much they all love and respect Fred. They will help you. Please let them. It helps them to help you.
