Rest in peace Deputy Sheriff Williams.

Recent research into the history of Camden County has led me to learn the story of how Deputy Montelle Williams made the ultimate sacrifice serving our beloved county. Today I went into the Camden County Sheriff's Office and found the portrait on the wall. I intend to respectfully use it as a dignified tribute as I document the history of the Camden County, North Carolina. My late father-in-law, Sam Jennings, also served as a Camden County deputy under Sheriff John Joseph Walston.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 45th anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. to my home state and the birthplace of my beloved son. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.

Rest In Peace

Forty five years ago your daughter and I were best friends at college when she received the terrible, life-changing news. I had no idea at the time that nearly thirty years later, my son would begin a career in law enforcement, and that my son-in-law would do the same. While I have lost touch with Judy, I think of her and the rest of the family often. And I think of you, particularly when we visit the Memorial. You made the ultimate sacrifice in an effort to better your community.
