Reflections for Correctional Officer Jayme Lee Biendl

So saddened by the news. Every day we go to face was most fear. We do this with little recognition. There is no fame, no fortune, no riches. Only the fullfillment of knowing that we are keeping these people off our streets and away from our kids. We are rewarded by acknowledging each other. Thank you to all of the Law Enforcement for what you do. Specifically Thank you Officer Biendl. Rest easy.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

We remind ourselves from time to time that this job can be dangerous. We rely on each other so much to watch our back. And then this happens. We, as fellow officers can make sure that something good comes from this.
Officer Biendl - You will not be forgotton.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Officer Biendl's family and to her fellow Officers with the Washington DOC and her facility. We in Detention and Corrections are not immune to this wave of sensless murders on Law Enforcement Officers so far in 2011. She walked where others are afraid to. You will not be forgotten Officer Biendel! I will be in DC next year to stand for you and all of the others and I feel the pain when I see your name on the wall.

Although I did not know Jayme,I have a high regard for what she was doing .She as the others that have passed from our hands was doing what needed to be done.I to lost a friend this week when Indianapolis Officer David moore was taken from us. He too was a wonderful person doing what he thought was a great service for and to people like me.Just a citizen of a city with a lot of hate and as with Jayme, she to was doing her duty as a law bidding person.Protecting us all. The Officers that have passed this month and the months before and the months after will have one thing in common. They cared enought to be Law Enforcement Officers and chose that way of life to Protect us all. God Bless each and every one of them and may we all make this world a better place because of there loss.. I pray for you all.William Bell Indianapolis, indiana
