David epitomized every ideal of a great police officer. He was named rookie of the year and continued to be a peer leader for his fellow officers. With five years on the job he already had many awards including a Medal of Valor and was a seasoned Field Training Officer. In short, he was among the best of the best.

In nearly 4 decades of law enforcement I've lost several friends in the line of duty and now the son of two fellow law enforcement officers, both exceptional in their own right, has been taken from us.

His parents, Spencer and Jo Moore have both shown a faith in God, a love for humanity and a dedication to their chosen profession, all while saying goodbye to their son.

David, you will always be remembered and loved.

Dave, I remember when we were in school, you would walk the halls quite as could be. But you were always the first to speak up when it was for the right reasons. You never judged and always stayed true to who you were. Then on the streets, you held yourself to that same standard of integrity. You were an amazing officer and an even better person. The morning of this horrible incident will always sit heavy on my heart, but I also know that you will always be looking down on us with your watchful eyes. Thank you Dave for your commitment to our community and Godspeed brother. You may now rest.

To David and the family and colleagues of Officer David Moore: Please know that our hearts are broken, with yours, at your tremendous loss. No words can eliminate the pain you feel, nor express the sacrifice you have laid on the alter of freedom.

As a parent of a child who has twice been an organ transplant recipient, I wish to thank you and David very sincerely for the decision to share his life with others in need. Even in the midst of this incredible tragedy, you chose to help others. The rewards in Heaven are great to those who lay down their life for another.

May the peace of our Lord comfort you. Thank you for your willingness to share such a priceless gift.

I am so saddened to hear of the loss of your son. He was a true hero in every respect of the word from the day he first decided to make a difference in an evil world. He stood as a shining example; a shield between bad and good. Be comforted in the fact that all who wear the badge, as he so greatly did, morn along side you. My sincere condolences to you and also to his fellow officers and friends. Be at peace my fellow servant. We fellow officers will take the load from here. God bless you for your service.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family of Officer Moore. I am so sorry for your loss. Police Officer David Moore will be remembered as a hero who gave his life trying to keep the people of our city safe. I want to thank him for his sacrafice and yours. I am sorry he was taken from you so early, so tragically and so senselessly. I would like to thank all officers for the job they do everyday. We take it for granted that they are doing a very dangerous job and the job they are trying to accomplish is to protect us. God Bless Officer Moore, his family and all officers.

Officer Moore,
My heart is breaking for your family and we mourn with them at losing you. I prayed for you and the other officers who have been shot in recent days but sometimes our idea of healing isn't how the Lord heals. You were were a hero while you were alive and now you will also be one in your death by the people who recieve your organs. I will keep your mother in my prayers as it sounds like she still works for your department. I know from experience how stressful it can become to continue at the same department after your loved one dies in the line of duty. Rest in peace sir!
