Reflections for Officer David Spencer Moore

I am so greatful to have met you and your father at the FOP Hall in Dec. 2010. I could tell how close you were to your family and what an incredible person you seemed to be. I am so saddened by this tragedy, yet thankful that I can say I actually got to meet you. Thank you for your service, Sir. May God hold you in his arms and bless your family moving forward. - Boiler UP!

Spencer and Jo - How proud you must be to have had such a wonderful, honorable child. I know that tragedy is not new to your family and I am so very sorry for that. I hope you feel the support, once again, of survivors across this state and world as we try our best to comfort and pray for your family through this time and into the future.

His Judgment Day:
The officer stood and faced his God, Which must always come to pass. He hoped his shoes were shinning, Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, Officer, How shall I deal with you? Have you always turned the other cheek To my church have you been true?"
The officer squared his shoulder and said, "No, Lord, I guess I aint, Because those of us who carry badges can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, And at times my talk was rough, And sometimes I've been violent Because the streets are tough.
But I never took a penny That wasn't mine to keep.. Though I worked a lot of overtime, when the bills got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help Though at times I shook with fear. And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept an unmanly tear.
I know I don't deserve a place among the people here. They never wanted me around except to calm their fear.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand. I never expected or had too much, But if you don't...I'll understand.
There was silence all around the throne, where the saints often trod. As the officer waited quietly for the judgment of his God.
"Step forward now, Officer. You've borne your burdens well. Come walk a beat on heaven's streets, You've done your time in hell"

Dave, I really don't know where to start. You are my brother, and I am going to miss you. It was a pleasure getting to know you the last few years, and I greatly enjoyed all the time we spent together during EOD training. It is going to be hard going to training, call-outs, or HDS without you to talk to and hang out with. You will be forever remembered by the rest of the IMPD family, especially your brothers on the bomb squad. Rest in peace.

Our most heartfelt sympathy's to the family of Officer Moore, Nothing prepares you when you lose someone so tragically and for the lingering of littest ray of hope, that they can recover. We have felt that pain when our
Deputy Sarah Jones, Monroe Co., lost her battle EOW 10-19-08
Many memories came rushing back as I followed your Officers
last days, I too, can remember the waiting, tests, just praying. Strengths came from fellow officers & the IN COPS
brought us some peace.
Always Remember HERO'S live forever....in our Hearts!

Dave, you will be missed by all of the officers on North District and the entire IMPD. We loved working with you and looked forward to many more years on the street with you. You are a true hero and, please know, you took a piece of each of us when you left. Your friends are carrying eachother through this most difficult time and will never forget you or what you represented. To the Moore family: I have never seen a classier family who has earned as much respect as you. You were all respected before this incident, but the strength that you have shown has helped all of the officers that are trying to cope with this loss. Our love goes out the Moore family as well as our IMPD and police family everywhere.

To the family, friends and co-workers of Officer David Moore. My deepest sympathies to you because of your loss. I am at liberty to say what I want and I am angered and sickened by the evil, violent, selfish suspect who attacked your loved one. We live in a world with real evil, with law enforcement so often being on the front line. Your loved one will be remembered with respect and held in honor by law enforcement Officers all over the country. Again my deepest sympathies to those close to him.

My sincere condolences to the family. I am the spouse of a police officer, also named David Moore. My husband was also shot in the line of duty (over 20 yrs ago) when he had only been on the force for 5 yrs. His story is similar, car stop, gunshot to the face, etc. He did survive, and eventually returned to duty and has continued to serve for a total of almost 27 yrs. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family as you go through this sad and difficult time. A very special thank you to David for his willingness to serve his community and for his ultimate sacrifice. May God Bless your family and bring you healing.
