"If they ever tell my story let them say that I walked with giants. Men rise and fall like the winter wheat, but these names will never die. Let them say that I lived in the time of Hector tamer of horses. Let them say I lived in the time of Achilles."

Let them say that I lived in the time of David Moore, a Warrior. Godspeed Brother. Proud to be part of the same department as you and proud to have lived in your time, as you are a giant among men!

Officer Moore,

Though I did not know you personally I know you were a true warrior. There are so many ways to describe you. Son, Brother, Uncle, Friend, Neighbor, and Officer. However, none could be more fitting than Hero. Today watching your family, both in blood and in blue, render honors for you it was so obvious the city of Indianapolis has truly lost one of their finest, a great solider in the war on crime. God bless you Sir, and thank you for your selfless service and for the ultimate sacrafice you made for the citizens you served. I would say rest easy, but by all accounts you are the very definition of what makes an ordinary police officer and extraordinary warrior.

"Blessed are the peacemakers; for they shall be called the children of God." Matthew 5:9

God Bless you Officer David Spencer Moore. Thank you for all of the good and happiness you brought to our community during your short time with us. You will be missed! God Speed Precious Angel!

~You Raise Me Up!~

When I am down and, oh my soul, so weary;
When troubles come and my heart burdened be;
Then, I am still and wait here in the silence,
Until you come and sit awhile with me.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

There is no life - no life without its hunger;
Each restless heart beats so imperfectly;
But when you come and I am filled with wonder,
Sometimes, I think I glimpse eternity.

You raise me up, so I can stand on mountains;
You raise me up, to walk on stormy seas;
I am strong, when I am on your shoulders;
You raise me up... To more than I can be.

I have been sick and saddened with the news of Officer Moore's passing. Even thought I did not know him, he sounds like an upstanding and outstanding individual. God must have needed a healthy and strong man in Heaven and he got that in David. You & your family have been in my thoughts & prayers.

Your funeral was beautiful and so honored the man you are. Your parents are so proud of you and that will never change. You have left this world a better place. I was just sorry that your whole funeral procession could not be completed because of the weather. Your parents are so wonderful to care about the people who came.
It is hard to say goodbye to people like you and must contend with the creep that is wasting human breath.
May God be with you and your family. Thank you.

As the Daughter and niece of local IMPD, I want to say that my heart goes out to family, and friends..."Step forward now, policeman,
You've borne your burdens well.
Come walk a beat on Heaven's streets,.." I pray that god surrounds your family and our whole family of police and that we can find comfort in knowing you are in an amazing place now. Heaven has another angel,... a warrior..

Having almost lost my father in the line of duty, and seen another hero die, a hero like your son I would like to say a few things to you. Although I never had the chance to meet David my heart still breaks. I sit hear watching the service, and all I want to do is to be near your family and friends, to help them make it through this day and the days to come. Life has its ups and downs, and its unexplained turn of events, events like the death of our hero, David S. Moore. The family has asked that we celebrate his life and with that said, the celebration of life if exactly what we can turn to in hopes that it may mend our hearts. The family of officers, and soldiers, are hero's in their own right, because they have given their loved ones, they have stood behind them proud, knowing that the ultimate sacrifice could occur. Sadly,this sacrifice does occur and it takes good men and women away from their duties guarding our freedoms, and our streets, and takes them to the streets of heaven where they may rest, and look down on those who's lives have been blessed because of their presence here on earth. As family, may we stand proud and continue to walk the streets here on earth, and find comfort in knowing that our loved ones, like David Moore, are walking the streets of heaven. God bless David Moore's Family, friends and the entire family of police and those who stand strong behind them.

It is a shame that a man should die in the line of duty. I am a recent widow of a native from indy and I am sure that my husband and I would both agree that his family is in our prayers. He died doing what few men can do and that is protect the people of INdy.======Judy Julius

To the family and friends of Officer David Moore and his fellow officers:

On behalf of my family, I extend our sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you suffered when David was tragically killed.

To Officer Moore's family, my heart goes out to all of you and may you find comfort in your loved ones and your strength in your faith. When my son was killed, the entire law enforcement community in the Bay Area embraced us in a circle of love and support, and I know you will receive the same support. It makes the unbearable less torturous, and I pray for your solace.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the dedicated service David gave to his community and the citizens of Indiana, and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on January 26, 2011.

I teach a class of civilians from time to time and I do my very best in helping them understand what police officers really do. In my 11 years as a Beaumont Police Officer I have laid 3 of my fellow officers to rest the last of which was one of my best friends. During one of my classes I was talking about fallen officers and I was asked the simple question, "what makes them hero's"?? I suddenly became very angry wanting to lash out at such a disrespectful question. Rather, I stopped for a moment and remembered that I was teaching people who really had no idea of the answer that was so seemingly aparent to me. I answered the question with the first thing that came to mind making so much sence to me. It's not the fact that they didn't have a choice when they sacrificed their lives that makes them hero's, it's the fact that they did have a choice but they did it anyway. It's not only the fact that Officer Moore laid his life down for others that makes him a hero, but that he knew the cost and counted it an honor to do what he was called to do. Now we salute him for his honor and bravery and pray that his family, friends and fellow officers know the honor that can only be theirs to have laid such a costly sacrifice upon the alter of freedom. Rest in peace my brother....."The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing". Edmund Burke

It is a tradgedy to lose a Brother In Arms. Your service was appreciated and needed. God has a special place for out Law Enforcement in Heaven as well for those like the one who took your life hear on earth. But keep in mind your life is still strong in your Family and Department. I pray God will speak to each one that is hurting and heal in time. I lost my Sergeant in the line of duty in 2008. An unknown officer wispered in my ear and said,"You know what your Sergeant would want you to do, just keep doing it". It took a bit for it to set in, but, one of the best ways to honor our fallen is to keep the fight and continue doing the job and doing it better. God please give this family and department peace and strength.

I remember David growing up in his teenage years. He was a very respectful young man that was so proud of his mother and father. Though he is physically gone, he will never be forgotten. David had a wonderful heart and a great disposition. My heart is heavy for Jo & Spencer. God Bless and comfort their hearts.

I am so saddened by the death of another policeman. I too come from a police family. My late Father, Captain Paul Singer, retired from the Muncie Police Dept. and My brother Sgt. Steve Singer gave the ultimate sacrifice, 8/8/1989.
Every time we lose another policeman my heart breaks all over again.
God bless you Moore Family, You are making all of us survivors proud the way you are conducting yourselves! I met David at the Muncie luncheon for the C.O.P.S. bicycle riders. Little did he know that he would have others riding for him this year. To his sister Carole, I wish I could you a hug! I hope that you will consider going to the C.O.P,S. Siblings retreat in September. It is an awesome place to heal. I no longer have a living brother or sister but I do have lots of brothers and sisters by shared heartbreaks. May God comfort all of You these next 2 days and always.
