Wow brother.. I've spent the last couple of hours reading the hearfelt condolensces of so many from around the world. As always, you've touched more people than you realize. As humble as you are, this has got to be difficult, but you really are a hero. As sad and tragic as your loss has been to all of us, we "Soldier On" knowing that you are in heaven, watching over all of us (Couldn't have helped the Cubs a little? ;-).

I miss you bro, and the great times we had. You are in my thoughts daily, as you push me to be a better person. You've done great things for all who knew you, and it's an honor and privilege to have called you my friend.

I read a quote the other day, and it made me think of you.

"Out of suffering, emerge the strongest souls. The most massive characters are seared with scars".

Well.. I am definitely seared with scars, and we have all suffered. But having known and worked with you, has made my soul stronger and character greater. Thank you... for everything you do, still to this day.

An old friend..

Happy Birthday Dave,

We spent today on a bike ride in your memory, and for your birthday. We were invited by your fellow IMPD officers.

We met your parents; great folks!

The bike ride was very enjoyable and we appreciate the efforts of Jeff P. and Brad B., and all rest if the IMPD family.

Thank you for your service to yours, and our community Dave.

I AM REALLY MISSING YOU TODAY DAVID. I CAN NOT BELIEVE ITS BEEN ALMOST 8 MONTHS SINCE THIS HAPPENED. ITS WEIRD IT SEEMS LIKE JUST YESTERDAY YOU WERE TAKEN FROM US AND THEN ON THE OTHER HAND IT SEEMS LIKE FOREVER AGO. I THINK ABOUT ALL THE THINGS WE DID TOGETHER OVER THE YEARS, THE CONVERSATIONS WE HAD. WE HAD SOMETHING SPECIAL I AM SO ANGRY THAT YOU WERE TAKEN . WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GROW OLD TOGETHER. EVEN THO WE WERE ON AN OFF OVER THE LAST FIVE YEARS THERE WAS SOMETHING SPECIAL ABOUT US. EVERY SONG I HEAR AND EVERY PLACE I DRIVE BY REMINDS ME OF YOU. I LOVED HOW YOU WOULD ALWAYS SUPRISE ME. SHOWING UP WHEN I DIDNT EXPECT YOU, CALLING AT THE RIGHT TIME OR SUPRISING ME WITH A BEAUTIFUL CARD. SO MANY THINGS HAVE HAPPENED OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS AND I JUST WANT TO CALL AND TELL YOU ABOUT THEM AND HEAR YOUR ENCOURAGING WORDS. I LOVE YOU DAVID PLEASE HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND.

David, I woke up sweating in the middle of my sleep. I realized I had a dream of your incident, yet instead of you, it was me. Fully awake now, I look back on this and try to figure out what happened and how fast it must have occurred. For me I look at this as a training exercise, running scenarios through my mind and how I would react.

Although we did not work together on a daily basis, I had the distinct pleasure of working with you a couple different times. You went out of your way to help me with a fatality accident that took us 3 hours to paint and measure. I remember that the most and knew then that your work ethic and your heart were always in the right place.

To Jo and Spencer, you both are very special and raised one hell of a son. A warrior that has instilled in others a great more than he knew.

Not sure why I had the dream, but I'm glad I did. I never really got to thank you. So, THANK YOU! For everything. You are truly missed.

David,

Your death really touched my heart. My condolences go out to your mom and dad. They are all class. They raised a wonderful son. I closely monitored the news casts of your passing. I wanted so bad to attend your funeral but was unabel to. I say thank you for being the best of the best and proudly representing what Law Enforcement truely is. I would call you a 5%er however from what I have heard, I believe you were a 1%er.

Your mom and many others referred to you as a warrior. What an honor. Well I would add to that and call you a sheep dog as well a warrior.

Thank you for being the best of the best. I hope your enjoying walking the streets of Gold.

Dave, you are missed even by those that never knew you. I also would say to your parents, thank you for your sacrifice and I proudly applaud you for raising a wonderful person and a great cop.

RIP my brother.

My friend, David, Even though we met just one time in our life, you left a standing impression on me. You were such a honorable man to me .You were so polite that i could not believe it. I did get the car fixed after that. lol .. I hope you had a good laugh also. My friend, I met your Mom for lunch a while back. She is a great women and really misses you . You were lucky to of had such a Mom in your life. You all seemed so close. I gave her an Easter card.
You made me feel proud to be a American and that you wore that uniform so great and so proudly. David, There is not a day that goes by that i do not think about you . You were a great man and i hope that someday when my time comes that we shall meet again in Gods place to shake hands again. I send blessings to your family and pray that your Mom and Dad will heal from this day, but that they shall never forget the love and caring that all of you shared.. Bless you David. Rest in peace.. My daughter Anna is there with you. I am sure that you have met her. She ,like you was a wonderful person and shared her help with others like you did,.. Wm Bell
