Today makes 7 weeks and 1 day since you've been gone. Your sons, mother and I miss you terribly. You were an excellent husband, a spectacular father and an incredible son. You have changed my life forever. I am amazed at the outrageous amount of people whose lives and hearts you have touched. The idea of a future without you is unbearable. Therefore, I will live my life day by day. Please visit me in my dreams.. until we meet again, my love.

Your soul mate,

Det. D. Castillo

I miss you every day. It kills me to see your mom, Debbie, and boys hurt. You taught me to live, take vacations, and not waste another day. You are truly a hero to all of us. We will you Roger! Your friends, George, Annette, Geoffrey, and kenny

friend of family

I come to the ODMP often to remember my late fiancé Dennis. Every time I come here it breaks my heart to know that yet another officer has fallen and that yet another family has to live their lives without the officer they loved. My heart goes out to everyone who knew and loved Detective Castillo. Know that you are not alone in the "journey" that you walk. Should you ever need anything please don't hesitate to contact me. (The Davis Co. Sheriff's Office in Iowa will always know how to reach me. I can also be found on Face Book.) You will be in my thoughts.

From reading the reflections left for Roger, he sounds like he was a great man with a beautiful spirit. Those of you who knew him in life were so blessed to have been able to share in it. I hope that you will all continue to find a way to celebrate and remember Roger's life and the MAN that he was. Remember that Roger's life was about so much more than the way he died. Roger will continue to live on as long as we continue to remember him.

Detective Castillo, thank you for helping to make this world a little safer for us all. YOU will not be forgotten. Please continue to watch over all of us as only you can. If you happen to bump into my late fiancé Dennis up there give him a big hug for me and the kids. It's been eight years and he's still very much missed and forever loved.

Wishing you brighter and better days,

Jocelyne :)

If today is to be THE DAY, so be it.
If you seek to do battle with me this day,
you will receive the best that I am capable of giving.
It may not be enough, but it will be everything that
I have to give and it will be impressive, for I
have constantly prepared myself for this day.
I have trained, drilled, and rehearsed my actions
so that I might have the best chance of defeating you.
I have kept myself in peak physical condition,
schooled myself in the martial skills and have
become proficient in the application of combat tactics.
You may defeat me, but you will pay a severe price
and will be lucky to escape with your life.
You may kill me, but I am willing to die if necessary.
I do not fear Death, for I have been close enough to it
on enough occasions that it no longer concerns me.
But I do fear the loss of my Honor and would rather die
fighting than to have said that I was without courage.
no matter how insurmountable it may seem
and to the death if need be,
in order that it may never be said of me that I was not a WARRIOR!

His Final 10-42
His days always began with a "10-41",
he was always ready to take on more crime.
The same routine for the years,
but he got used to it over time.

Day in and day out he gave it
his all and he did his best.
Never stopping to think that this could be
the last time he straps on his bulletproof vest.

Another day passes and once again
he has protected and served.
But never once really getting
the full recognition he deserved.

He had a full life but there was
so much left for him to do.
But on January 20, 2011, he made
his Final "10-42"

may you rest in peace and in god's
glory. till we see you again.
god's speed

The Watch

For many years
These officers have stood the watch

While some of us were in our beds at night
These officers stood the watch

While some of us were in school learning our trade
These heroes stood the watch

Yes…even before some of us were born into the world
These heroes stood the watch

In those years when the storm clouds of controversy were seen brewing on the horizon of history
These heroes stood the watch

Many times they would cast an eye towards home and see their family standing there,
Needing their guidance and help,
Needing that hand to hold during those hard times
But they still stood the watch

They stood the watch for many years

They stood the watch so that we,
our families, and our fellow citizens
could sleep soundly in safety, each and every night
knowing that an officer stood the watch

Today we are here to say,
“Partner... the watch stands relieved

Relieved by those You have Trained, Guided, and Led
Partner you stand relieved.. We have the watch..."

"Piper, Standby your pipes... Rifle Squad, man your rifles…

Heroes are going Home!”

Thank you Detective Casillo for a job well done!! Congratulations on your promotion to patrol the gates of heaven!! God speed!!!
