Today I ran in memory of Roger Castillo in the National Police Week Memorial 5K in DC. It was even more special because my husband ran in memory of Detective Castillo's partner Amanda Haworth. It was a special opportunity to run in honor of such an accomplished hero who ended his watch far too soon.

Today is a sad day. However, I will never be able to think of you without being reminded of the wit and humor you displayed in NW (Sta. 1). Also remembered will be your selfless heroism, that will serve to steel the resolve of your brethren in the law enforcement community. My heart and prayers go out to your family and friends. God bless you and may you rest in peace, brother.

My condolences to the Castillo and Haworth families. I reside here in the Philippines, and learned about this tragic event from CNN online. My uncle Efren, was a police officer for the San Francisco Police Department in California for 25 years, and I respect enormously what police officers throughout the world do on a daily basis---put their lives on the line. God bless all of you reading this. My prayers go out for the surviving family members. Shalom.

Thank you for your service.

You apparently touched many people in a meaningful way. I am sorry for the loss your family is experiencing. May they find the strength to carry on and find some happiness as I imagine you would want them to find.

Detective Castillo,

I have many friends who are Police Officers and I pray for them every day,you my friend pay the ultimate price and for me it was extremely hard to see your wife and children going thru this very difficult time, you should be extremely proud of your three boys, for they are like little men taking care of each others and I know its been extremely hard on your wife but we are all praying for her to be able to take things day by day.

Rest in peace dear friend
