Although I've attended multiple funerals for fellow brothers and sisters in blue, yours was particularly memorable. My husband joined me for his first experience attending an officers funeral. He was so moved by what he experienced that day, I know he has gained so much more appreciation for my career and those I serve with. I remember how peaceful the walk was, though cold, from where we parked and walked to your gravesite. The snow was so gentle that day....
You will never be forgotten.

No words can express how much this hurts to loose someone like Deputy Suzanne Hopper. I had only two encounters with Deputy Hopper and on both occasions she was happy bright and was the most respectful person I have had the pleasure of knowing. Deputy Hopper was one of the deputies that I knew as a person who was always bright and happy and had the best attitude towards everything. She was a star deputy from what I know. She was never the person to want all kinds of fame and credit for anything. But her personality was one of the best. She was always one of the go-to people, when someone needed help or needed voluenteers for something she always had her hand up. She was truly and angel in disguise

Eventhough I personally did not know Deputy Suzanne Hopper I can tell that she was an outstanding individual. However there isnt any words that could describe my gratitude and respect for Deputy Hopper. What puts me in awe was that she knew the dangers of this career and still followed through with it. "Real heroes do not wear capes" This saying posted in my Criminal Justice class speaks the truth and it is people like Deputy Hopper that inspire me to become a peace officer in the future. Unfourtunately the day she fell was an extreme tragedy and an unfair one as well. Thank you for your service and I honestly wish I could have met you, a true hero. May you rest in peace.

Suzanne, I am outraged, frustrated and embarrassed for your organization that no officer came to you immediately after you'd been shot. I just saw the account and video of your murder and cannot believe the lack of response to save you. I simply cannot comprehend it. During the shooting, one officer came on the air and announced that you were down, and then stated that he couldn't get to you . . . really? . . why NOT? . . because there was shooting?. She was allowed to lie there . . and die from her wounds . . how disloyal, how cowardly. Nothing in the world, at that moment was more important, more pressing, more desperate, than getting to her, and moving her out of harm's way to begin attempts to stop bleeding, perform CPR, etc . . ANYTHING other than abandon, desert and ignore her. Don't they teach you basic officer down recovery drills . . another officer (s) provides intense cover fire, while you tactically and rapidly move to her. If you're alone . . then you move and shoot. You're saying in effect it's "too dangerous." "Too dangerous" you say? Are you SERIOUS ?! Duty was calling . . duty was begging . . but you elected NOT to respond . . because it was too dangerous . . . ya, you may have been shot . . but that can happen in what we do . . but you have to have a tactical and winning mind set. Shootings? . . ambushed? I'm all too familiar . . Duty was calling. and Suzanne, who was waiting for someone to respond, was let down . . and died . . there's NOTHING too dangerous for us to negate assisting a downed officer . . if you're down, I'm coming for you, and you can count on it!

Deputy Hopper,

I just watched you on tv. I remember the day it happened. I was in one of my college classes. I remember becoming so angry thinking that a human being could do that to another human being. You inspired me to join the academy sooner than expected. I was the youngest cadet to graduate my academy January 2013. I think of you very often on duty. Such a beautiful woman, and an amazing policewoman. I wish that I could have met you. RIP sister, you will never be forgotten.

I just watched your story as well on the episode of "World's Wildest Police Videos." So very sad to see such a beautiful woman, protecting and serving, having to end her life because of man. I appreciate you for setting the bar for so many other women by being such an extraordinary officer.

May you rest in peace and watch over us all as we carry on the selfless duty every day.

May God Bless the Family.

A respectful reflection to the family of Deputy Suzanne Hopper from Trooper Scott Howard and family. Stay strong, the pain will never go away, but time helps. Children, be very proud of your mom. You are part of an extended family that WILL NOT FORGET YOU. If anyone asks about mom, just say she was a hero to the community........and fearless.
With respect, I am.
