Reflections for Deputy First Class Brandon Lee Coates

Deputy Coates,

I am honored to be able to have served in the same agency along side a fellow Marine. We will continue the job that God has seeked out for us. May God be with you and your family. Until I see you again brother...

Brandon,

As a former OCSO Deputy and having worked the same streets you did, words cannot express the anger and sadness I feel at the news of your passing. Your sacrifice and those of your family will never be forgotten or in vein as we will continue to fight the fight you did so well. You truly are a hero and while I never knew you I feel a bond to you for we wore the same star and will always be brothers behind the badge. May you rest in peace and know that while your passing was way too soon, you go forward as a worrior and the keeper of what is right and just in a world that seems to be going so wrong. God bless you and your family!

Florida Department of Law Enforcement

Another brother has fallen. You will not be forgotten. You are a true hero and have honorably earned your place behind Heavens gates.
I pray for your family and your friends. Please continue to watch over us all.

This saddens me, but this also reminds me, and should remind us all to be aware. It can happen to the best of us. I truly hope that every LEO wears his/her vest, even though some don't. Never let your guard down, no matter who it is or how comfortable you are on the street.

Deputy B. Coates was as good as good can get. He served his country with pride and commitment. He dedicated his life to the citizens on Orange County without hestitation. The hardest part is that his smile and laughter will have to live in our memories. I will miss him as he was a great person and the best friend that anyone could ask for. His example of a person pushed you to make yourself better. He died doing what he loved.
