I served as Ryan Bonaminio's Platoon Sergeant during his recent deployment to Iraq in 2008-2009. Ryan held the rank of Sergeant and served as an MP Team Leader in the 2nd Platoon. We called him "Bones" and knew that we could always rely on him, no matter what!! He was dedicated to accomplishing our mission of training the Iraqi Police forces in Fallujah and Mosul, but he always put the safety and welfare of his team and fellow Soldiers first!! Bones always had a smile or a mischieveous grin, which always made a person wonder what was going through his mind. I can't remember Bones ever being down or even having a bad day. It was an honor and a privilege to have known him and serve with him. The world is a sadder place without him....

For Police Officer Ryan Bonaminio:

Our duty as law officers is one of peril mixed into the routine of patrol and investigation. A possible encounter with a suspect who will resist is always present. We regret that our brother Ryan would meet with one who would shoot-down a soldier-of-the-law and flee. We now rely upon our brothers and sisters everywhere who wear a badge to cooperate in an aggressive and continuous pursuit permitting Ryan's killer no rest and see that justice is served.

We pray for Ryan's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the days ahead.

I am proud to render to Officer Ryan Bonaminio a final salute.

I have never met you, nor did I know who you were prior to hearing about this horrible incident. You survived a tour in Iraq, and then some *#$&*%@ was such a coward to take your life. You are my age and you had so much to live for. My heart goes out to your family and your RPD family...God has given us another angel...Rest in Peace Ryan...
