Sergeant, unfortunately I never had the pleasure of meeting you but I know your type very well in the men and women I dispatch for. Thank you for your dedication and sacrifice and always, always putting yourself last to protect others. My heart goes out to your friends and family and I know that your fellow troopers are part of that family. It is obvious that you will be sorely missed. Thank you sir for your seventeen years. I appreciate you.

A couple of touching poems that are mandatory reading and enjoyment for any pilot. My heart goes out to Joe's family and the entire law enforcement and aviation community,

HIGH FLIGHT
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of earth And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings; Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth Of sun-split clouds -- and done a hundred things You have not dreamed of -- wheeled and soared and swung High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung my eager craft through footless halls of air. Up, up the long, delirious burning blue. I've topped the windswept heights with easy grace where never lark, or even eagle flew.
And, while with silent, lifting mind I've trod the high untresspassed sanctity of space, put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

LOW FLIGHT
Oh, I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And hovered out of ground effect on semi-rigid blades;
Earthward I've auto'ed,
and met the rising brush
Of non-paved terrain - and done a thousand things
You would never care to -
skidded and drooped and flared
Low in the heat-soaked roar.
Confined there,
I've chased the earthbound traffic, and lost
The race to insignificant headwinds.
Forward, and a little up, in ground effect
I've topped the General's hedge with drooping turns
Where never Skyhawk, or even Phantom flew.
And, shaking and pulling collective, I've lumbered
The low trespassed halls of Victor Airways,
Put out my hand, and touched a tree.
Rest in Peace you Sky Pilot

Romans 13:3-4 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil.

You were a minister for God, now rest from your labors as His servant and enter into His rest. Until we meet again in the world without end.
