It has been a little more than 3 1/2 years since our son Ronnie (PS3 Ronald A. Gill Jr.) died while on a mission with MSST 91111. He too was a member of the USCG and a Federal Law Enforcement Officer. Our prayers and most sincere condolence to Petty Officer Lin's family. "Think not upon my passing, but remember the glory of my spirit". These words are inscribed on Ronnie's bench at Coast Station Pt. Judith. We will light Ronnie's candle to honor this fallen hero.

Rest in Peace young brother. You never know when our "Pilot" is going to call us back across the bar. Fair winds and following seas. God bless you and your family.

Crossing the Bar

Sunset and evening star,
And one clear call for me!
And may there be no moaning of the bar,
When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep,
Too full for sound and foam,
When that which drew from out the boundless deep
Turns again home.

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;

For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crossed the bar.

For Petty Officer Shaun Lin:

Our duty as law officers requires that we constantly train to increase our skills and enhance our effectiveness. Risk in training is as present as in our work. Sometimes we encounter the worst, and suddenly we are brought to another level of realizaion - our safety is not always guaranteed. We regret that our brother Shaun would be the latest reminder - but fate has deemed it to be so. Another soldier-of-the-law has joined those who have died in service to others.

We pray for Shaun's family, friends, co-workers and all who care about him. May they be ready to reach-out to one another in the times ahead.

I am proud to render Petty Officer Shaun Lin a final salute.

The unofficial motto of the United States Coast Guard is, "You've gotta go out, but you don't have to come back."

Every day over 40,000 Coast Guard men and women suit up and head out to protect others in harms way. Their diligence and the sacrifice of this brave Petty Officer will not be forgotten.

To the family of Petty officer Shaun Lin, may God comfort you in your time of sorrow.
