My husband Cmsgt. Keith Turbitt and I met Mark and Laura and kids when we move to Italy. What great people. Mark would go out of him way to help you. And Yes he loved his family. They got orders to Cheyenne
Wyoming. A few months later we were on there door step. We were so lucky to have such wonderful friends.
What a special angel in Heaven you are.
Bless your Family.
If any one reading this knows Laura, PLEASE pass my e mail address on to her.

Love and Peace

I was talking to my Dad today and he just informed me that he had the honor in walking with Mrs. Longway at the Unity tour up in D.C. for the fallen Law Enforcement. This was special important to me because I had the privileged for being able to do a ride along with Dept. Longway about a year before the accident. He was not just a great teacher but fast friend. I still think of that 11 hours ride along with the singing and how much we got to know each other. He truly loved his family, he talked about them half the time and the smile on his face said it all. He was a very happy man.

I am blessed to have met Dept. Longway and he will never be forgotten, every time I pass by that 7eleven I laugh. That was the safest 7eleven in that whole area that night.

RIP Deputy Mark Longway, my prayers will always be with his family. He was truly a remarkable person.

I stopped by this page because I am currently in the Law Enforcement United ride to Washington, DC. We started our registration process in Virginia and received a bracelet to wear to honor a fallen law enforcement officer. I put it on and it says "In honor and memory of Deputy Sheriff Mark A Longway, Hillsborough County, FL. EOW 09-21-11". I had to take a second look at the date.....it's my son's birthday. I got chills after I realized what date it was.
Anyway, I am here this week for you my brother and will not take this bracelet off. I will keep you in my thoughts as we ride into DC. Take care.

Dear Family of Deputy Longway who is now Eternally On Watch in Heaven with my son David. I have thought of you and pray for you often and at this time will share a special poem with you in honor of my son. God Bless you all

Merry Christmas From Heaven
I still hear the songs
I still see the lights
I still feel your love
on cold wintery nights

I still share your hopes
and all of your cares
I'll even remind you
to please say your prayers

I just want to tell you
you still make me proud
You stand head and shoulders
above all the crowd

Keep trying each moment
to stay in His grace
I came here before you
to help set your place

You don't have to be
perfect all of the time
He forgives you the slip
If you continue the climb

To my family and friends
please be thankful today
I'm still close beside you
in a special way

I love you all dearly
now don't shed a tear
Cause I'm spending my
Christmas with Jesus this year

To Deputy Mark Longway, to all family members and friends who call him beloved, and to his law enforcement family:

I was sorry to learn of Mark's death and extend my sincerest condolences on the grievous loss you have suffered. Words are insufficient to describe the sadness I feel for the Longway family. May you find comfort in your faith and the support of the law enforcement community.

There are many police survivors who share this same journey with you, and that community will be there to support you. Mark's memory will be forever honored and revered.

This reflection is sent with the utmost respect for the distinquished service Mark gave to his community and the citizens of Florida and for the supreme sacrifice he and his family made on September 21, 2010.

Dearest Mark and Laura,
I have always remembered the love that you two found and shared in Aviano. Being a witness to your growing romance and your marriage was one of the greatest gifts in my life. You both showed me what true love looks and feels like and I've held that with me for 27 years.
Mark, you were a wonderful man who cared deeply for your friends and family. You made us all laugh, you hugged us when we cried and you showed by example that we should all strive to be our very best. Rest in peace, love and joy, Mark.
Laura, I know there are no words of comfort that can be offered to ease your grief. My heart is with you and holds you and your family in love and compassion.
